PurposeTo encourage the children to always remember

Jesus Christ so they can have his Spirit to be with them.

The Sacrament

Today’s lesson is about what Jesus did to help us always remember him.

Lesson 36: Jesus Christ Gives the Sacrament to the Nephites

Jesus Christ sent his disciples to get some bread and wine.

He told the Nephites to sit on the ground.

He gave some to his disciples and had them give some to the people.

When the disciples returned, the Savior broke the bread into pieces and blessed it.

They then receive his Spirit.

Jesus said that people who take the sacrament promise to always remember him and his sacrifice

The disciples gave some wine to the people.

Jesus said those who take the sacrament promise to keep his commandments.

Jesus again told his disciples that everyone who takes the sacrament and always remembers him

will have his Spirit.

would be blessed if they kept his

He told them to pray always and to pray as they had

seen him pray.

He also commanded them to pray with their families.

The Savior told all the Nephites to pray to HeavenlyFather in his name

They should welcome others to their meetings, pray for them, and be good examples to them.

He said the people should meet together

often

Then a cloud covered the people so that only the disciples saw Jesus Christ go up to heaven.

The Savior gave his disciples the power to give

the Holy Ghost.

Can you suggest ways you can prepare to partake of the sacrament?

Some suggestions to help you prepare to partake of the sacrament are:

Sing the words of the sacrament hymn.

Listen to the words of the sacrament prayers.

Think about the Savior’s love, suffering, death, resurrection, and teachings.

Think about our covenants with Heavenly Father.T

President Ezra Taft Benson, thirteenth President of the Church said:

“We hear the words of the Lord most often by a feeling. If we are

humble and sensitive, the Lord will prompt us most often through our feelings. That is why spiritual promptings move us on occasion to great joy, sometimes to tears” (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, p. 77).

Draw a picture of something that will help you remember the Savior during the sacrament.

Some ideas may be, Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ with the Nephites, a blessing the children are thankful for in their lives.
