Definition
• Negotiation : An informal or formal process,where parties actively talk about their conflictfor the purpose of reaching agreement andbringing resolution to their problems.
• Mediation: A “facilitated negotiation”, wherean independent third party helps belligerentsto come to a resolution of their problems, butdoes not decide on their behalf.
