**Location**

The Dombes is situate in the Ain department. In the south-west.

**Characteristics**

• There are more than 1000 ponds in the Dombes created by human.Most of them are dig by monk.

• Frogs of the dombes are really famous because it’s a culinary specialty.• The dombes is at 280m of altitude.• There are 10 000ha of ground• Ponds have differents sizes (5ha – 100ha)

**Ridicule**

• The scene takes place during the revolution. Grégoire Ponceludon de Malavoy is a young nobleman without money who arrives at Louis XVI’s castle to drain the dombes’ marshes. But he killed a king’s officer and refused mme blayac’s love so the king didn’t want to see him.

• Finally the malavoy’s baron convince the new regime to drain the dombes’ marshes.

Marshes’ preservation

• Marshes’ play an important role to preserve the ecosystem (fauna and flora).

• The Dombes shelter 18% of the national area of exployted pond and it product 21% of the fish farming national production.

The habitants ...• There is a natural parc «  Le parc des

oiseaux » in villard les dombes .• In it there is a lot of kind of birds.• In all those pond there are some

fishes.
