They are light green, they are crisp, juicy, tart

apples which are excellent for eating raw

cooking . Apples ideally suited for pie baking.

It is also good for salads because slices don’t

brown as quickly as other varieties.

The Granny Smith Apple Origi-nated from Australia in 1868 from a

chance seeding propagated by Maria

Ann Smith.

It is a hybrid of the European Malus

Sylvestris wild apple with the domestic

apple pollenisar.

The Granny Smith Apple is widely

propagated in New Zealand.

Then it was introduced to the United

Kingdom in 1935.

Then the apple was introduced toThe United States in 1972 by a man

named Gray Auvil.
