mechanical rebar splicing system, alsooffers the LENTON PLUS splicing system.This system addresses critical demand applications where the mechanical rebar connector is required (by designparameters) to force failure into the parent reinforcing bar remote of the rebarconnector. This most stringent connectordemand is defined by some StateDepartments of Transportation (DOT) asthe Ultimate rebar splicing classification.

The LENTON PLUS system utilizes thesame proven traditional LENTON taperthreaded concept, but with a slight twist.Prior to placing a LENTON taper threadonto a bar end, the rebar is straightened(cold worked) with a specially designedhydraulic tool. The slightly reconfiguredbar end is then placed into a standardLENTON threading machine and a tradi-tional LENTON taper thread is machinedonto the rebar.

The LENTON PLUS process works in con-junction with the LENTON PLUS standard(A12) coupler, the LENTON PLUS Position(P14L) coupler, and with the LENTONPLUS TERMINATOR (D16). While theLENTON PLUS standard and position couplers are designed to mechanicallyconnect two reinforcing bars together,the LENTON PLUS TERMINATOR (D16)

LENTON PLUS has been pre-qualified byvarious Departments of Transportationas an Ultimate rebar splicing system. In addition, LENTON PLUS TERMINATOR(D16) is pre-qualified as a Headed BarReinforcement (end anchor) and meetsthe requirements of the current ASTMA970.

The LENTON PLUS (A12/P14L) andLENTON PLUS TERMINATOR (D16) are an extension to the existing ERICOmechanical rebar splicing systems andheaded anchors. The traditional LENTON(A2/P9) rebar splicing system and theLENTON TERMINATOR (D6) anchors, areboth listed in current ICC ER-3967, as aTYPE 2 seismic connector/anchor. The newLENTON PLUS rebar splicing and LENTONPLUS TERMINATOR (D16) are designed tooffer Engineers and Contractors, whenrequired, an Ultimate bar break remotesplicing option.
