Industry expects and needs newskills and knowledge;

New employeesNew ideasInnovations

Knowledge and Brain power;

One of the most important output from university towardsindustry is in-depth, science based and well educatedemployees. This is the best and most effective information transferto industry.

How to generate ideas andopportunities for industry

A hypothesis or description, by universityresearchers, of the possible industrialapplication and relevance of the differentresearch activities and results is desired andexpected by the industry

Implementers

First we need people who are interested inand enthusiastic about new ideas and

concepts

Second we need people who see thebenefits of new ideas and are willing to

take risk in taking ideas forward

Third we need people who concretize theideas and make a concept into more usable

from

Forth we need people who implement theconcrete innovations and help to

commercialize them

Future BIOECONOMY ???

BULLSEYE

Synthesis of Industry expertsopinions

Opportunities for Innovations;Perform research and development in cross border application areas, which are important for the society and industry. Examples of suchareas are bio raw material based chemicals and materials for materialapplications and feed, advanced and active chemicals and materialsfor health, chemistry and chemical technology based solutions for thefuture recycling economy. Sharp and brave research openings aroundthese themes are expected by the FS members.

Challenges for Research;Fundamental research must be brave and demanding and generatethe knowledge base, which is necessary and needed when future keyproduction technologies are developed in production of chemicals andmaterials from various bio raw materials and recycling raw materials.

The biggest risk in the path towars thefuture bioeconomy is to avoid risks. Braveresearch and brave resarchers !!!

LEGTECHA major change in the productionparadigm is Needed

1. A totally new production technology has been developed .anddemonstrated. The fundamentals of this technology was laidthrough studies of the solubility properties of biomasses.

2. Totally new product categories has been developed after theinitial production technology breakthroughs.

3. These new production categories are under the topics: biofuels, biopolymers and biochemicals

4. These products are typically intermediates for various finalproducts

5. Several new start up companies have been created. These aimto benefit from and utilize the new technological breakthroughs

Prerequisites for mental renewalin university and in industry

1. Become necessary agile (A flock of herrings instead of a whalefish or super tanker)

2. An activity jump, an open-minded testing, new initiatives andpractical trials attitude.

3. Various pilot plants and test beds have been built and areincredible actively and effectively used

4. A jump to the next knowledge level has been achieved(macro>>micro>>nano>>molecular)

5. Internationally recognized Living Labs and Testing Facilitiesavailable for interested parties.

LEGTECH 28.9.2016

LEGTECHNew business models must bedeveloped

1. The implementation of the business model “from Cradle to Grave”has successfully been implemented as one cornerstone ofbioeconomy .

2. The revenue generation model which based on that all biomass rawmaterial is sold at least three times (borrowed to the applying industryonce or several times) before it is finally used as bioenergy.

A jump to the next knowledge levelBy universities and industry

1. Parties within the future bioeconomy have made a substantialknowledge jump, which have led to a totally new understandingof biomasses, their structures, individual polymers andchemicals, their properties and potential uses.

2. The value of products in traditional value chains has beenincreased through these developments, especially theirenvironmental and customer value

3. Novel biomaterial and biochemical applications have beendeveloped based on this new knowledge

4. Biobased polymers for applications as fiber, film andcomposites have entered the markets through untraditionalpartnerships and networks
