DIRECTOR’S NOTE
Ohmigosh, you guys. We made it through another year of
Broadway Camp! I should have known that this energetic group
of students and this exceptional staff would prove me wrong. A
word of warning, though...you WILL be humming and singing
these songs for days to come.
As usual, I thought camp was a tremendous success. I always
get just as much out of the experience as the kids do. We all
worked extremely hard, both in class and in rehearsal, to make
this year’s camp as excellent as possible. In addition to having
honed their skills as performers, I hope the campers improved
their confidence and other life skills they will need off of the
stage.
I was skeptical five years ago when we decided to have two
casts for the show. And while it provides many challenges,
from costuming to rehearsal time, it also gives the campers new
opportunities that they did not have in years past. And I hope
they will agree with me that it was well worth it. Hopefully you
the audience will too.
I must give much thanks and respect to my brilliant camp staff.
They are a tremendously talented bunch of people, and there is
no way this camp would have been the success it is without
them. I am still a little bit of a self professed control freak, even
after so many years of having great people who work as camp
staff. But each year’s staff makes it easy, and hopefully I am on
the way to being a recovering control freak (but I doubt it :)). I
am forever grateful to them, and I know the students love and
respect them as well.
So sit back and enjoy the entertaining fruits of all our hard
labor. I know you will be as proud as I am, and I hope that you
and your children will find your way back here next summer.

CAMPERS SEW MORE THAN 80
PILLOWCASES FOR CHARITY
Camp members participated in a special sewing project during a costume
craft class in which they made pillowcases to donate to a local children’s hospital for terminally ill children. Since every camper participated we
were able to donate more than 80 pillowcases! The project is through an
organization call ConKerr Cancer. Each year 44,000 children across North America are treated for cancer while thousands more experience life-
changing illnesses and injuries. A hospital stay is a frightening experience
for adults, and even more so for young children. ConKerr’s mission is “A Case for Smiles – Helping children feel special while battling life chang-
ing illnesses.” Thousands of ConKerr Cancer volunteers dedicate them-
selves to brightening these children’s lives through the simple act of sew-
ing a bright, cheery pillowcase. As a result of their love and generosity, ConKerr Cancer has delivered more than 990,000 pillowcases, creating
‘miles of pillowcase smiles’ for the children and their parents.
