GK NEWS NETWORK Srinagar, Oct 11: Strongly con- demning a murderous attack on Kashmir-bound truckers at Udhampur in Jammu division on Saturday, the Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA)—an amalgam of various trade bodies—called for Kashmir-wide shutdown on Monday against the “government’s inefficiency to protect Kashmiris.” In an emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of Showkat M Chowdhary, the KEA demanded security for Kashmiri people travelling from Jammu to Srinagar or Srinagar to Jammu by road, especially the truck drivers and their properties. Three persons received burn inju- ries when a Kashmir-bound truck was attacked with a petrol bomb by goons in Udhampur district of Jammu division on Saturday. The KEA said such attacks “point to criminal conspiracy hatched by vested interests against Kashmiris and are aimed at desta- bilizing the State.” “With such attacks, fear has gripped Kashmiri people travelling from Jammu to Srinagar and vice- versa. Government should provide immediate security to Kashmiris to prevent this situation from deteriorat- ing further. We condemn such murde- rious attacks,” said Chowdhary. He urged people to observe com- plete shutdown on Monday against such cowardly attacks. “Kashmir is a landlocked Valley and vested interests in Jammu are taking advantage of this quite frequently. Government should ensure that such elements are curbed.
