Why - CSR

The Companies ACT 2013, passed by the Government of India and in effect since 1st April, 2014 defines the CSR Law. According, to Section 135 and Schedule VII of the Companies Act, CSR Law is applicable on companies with the following threshold limit.

- Net worth of the company to be INR 500 crore or more; - Turnover of the company to be INR 1000 crore or more; - Net profit of the company to be INR 5 crore or more

The companies have to spend 2% of their Net Profits in CSR activities.

Estimates indicate that CSR commitments from companies can amount to as much as INR 20,000 crores


Why - CSR


The companies coming under the aforementioned ambit are on hiring spree but facing a challenge of professionally trained CSR Personals.

Nearly, more than 8000 companies fall in this purview and each needs to hire minimum 5 people incremental on the basis of their operations. The CSR spending has been on the rise with 28% increase in CSR spend financial year 2016

During the 2nd year for the program students will visit the foreign university to gain a global perspective of CSR Activities abroad

Rural Immersion Programme - Duration: 1 week

Objectives:

Ÿ To Sensitize youth towards social issues and the resultant problems being faced by the rural population which constitutes about 70 % of our populations

Ÿ To Contribute to Rural development by creating awareness amongst the villagers, about day to day issues to improve quality of life.

Method:

Ÿ Organizing workshops, demonstrations, film shows, interaction, awareness program, etc. with involvement of local people

Ÿ Studying Challenges faced in Rural infrastructure and suggesting solutions by undertaking various projects

The students will be staying in the selected villages adopting the same lifestyle as the local population for developing realistic insights

(45% for SC/ ST) at graduation level. Candidates appearing for final year examinations
