Policy loans from life insurance policies generally are not subject to income tax, provided the contract is not a Modified Endowment Contract, as defined by Section 7702 of the Internal Revenue Code. A policy loan or withdrawal from a life insurance policy that is a Modified Endowment Contract is taxable upon receipt. Policy loans and withdrawals will reduce cash value and death benefit. Policy loans are subject to interest charges. Tax advantages may be subject to modified endowment contract rules, which may cause taxes and penalties. Tax advantages may be subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax, which may cause taxes and penalties.

Chronic Illness Accelerated Benefit Rider (CIABR)

will be applied to the death benefit accelerated. As a result, the actual amount received will be less than the amount of the death benefit accelerated.

Living (ADLs ) or severe cognitive impairment requiring substantial supervision

• Physician certification within the last 12 months of chronic illness
• 90-day elimination period
• Complete election of benefits form (L-3180)
CIABR Benefits– One election every 12 months– Maximum per election is lesser of 24% of death
benefit or $240,000 – Minimum per election is lesser of 5% of death
benefit or $75,000– Amount client receives is reduced from the death
benefit accelerated. Approximation is the age as a percentage: Age 75 at Election = Payment roughly 75% of death benefit
CIABR Benefits– $200 administration fee per election (may vary per
state) – Amount client receives is adjusted for expected
mortality under chronic illness tables– Lapse checking suspended during elections or when
over 50% of death benefit accelerated
