Mayor Ledyard, CT 06339-1551 (860) 464-3222

FAX (860)-464-8455 Mary-Beth Hubbard

Executive Assistant to the Mayor   Think Spring Ledyard!  With winter melting away, I hope you’ve registered for some of the many Spring and Summer Parks and Rec sports, activities and camps. There are many programs for kids AND adults! The online registration system is really proving to be a great success so give it a try. Along the “Think Spring” line, be sure to come through Ledyard Center to see the continuing efforts of the Ledyard Pride and Beautification Committee, including Spring‐themed banners. The aforementioned committee works on a budget of ZERO. The banners, painting of some signs, etc. are all done strictly by way of donations directed through the Town to the committee‐ not the General Fund. Though State funding is questionable, we continue to seek grants to eventually duplicate the sidewalks, light posts and banners in Gales Ferry. When our town is attractive and clean, a greater sense of pride and community follow. In doing so, our efforts likely help our local businesses and maybe even allow us to secure a few more!     Development wise, the new owner of the Gales Ferry Landing is making great strides with the facility. A new roof has been installed and interior work is being done. Exterior work follows with warm weather. We’ve put this surplus property on the tax rolls and in private ownership. Revenue from the sale provided Ledyard with funding to address capital needs. Thames Aquatic, the new indoor swim center and tennis facility in Ledyard Center is taking shape too. Additionally, a number of new housing units are in process, which complements existing housing stock and provides new options for Ledyard buyers and tenants. The Ledyard Center School is now for sale. We have a plan to put most of the property back on the tax rolls, retaining five acres for a town green, farmer’s markets, car shows, trunk or treat, concerts and many other civic activities.       Your Ledyard nurses want to remind you they are here for you! They deliver high quality, in‐home care that empowers you to control your own care while remaining independent. This is likely what most people would want! They are rated in the top 20% in the country for patient satisfaction and quality outcomes. They are uniquely devoted to your health and well‐being.     Unfortunately, with competitive, corporate health care, they are not getting our residents referrals. You need to tell your doctor, hospital case worker or other medical specialist directly that you want ONLY Ledyard VNA. Your tax dollars pay for these expert services, which also brings in revenue for your town, so be sure to ask for them! Please call Karen Goetchius, Nursing Director with any health questions, or concerns at (860) 464‐3247.

Please friend “Mayor Fred” on Facebook to stay up to date on Town happenings, storm prep, updates and other news from the Mayor’s office. Thank you for your confidence in me as your Mayor!    Best regards,
