Mark 4:35-3635 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.

This faith-building experience was meant for Christ’s followers, not the critics or the crowd on the shore.

Why? Because Jesus reveals himself most clearly to those who follow him most closely.

tions The Disciples in the Storm (37-38)

Mark 4:37-3837 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

tions The Disciples in the Storm (37-38)

The panic displayed by the disciples was based on two faulty assumptions: (1) Jesus doesn’t care and(2) Jesus isn’t able to do anything.

Beware of worshipping Jesus as the Son of God,and professing your faith in Him as the Savior of the world, while you blaspheme Him by the complete evidence in your daily life that He is powerless to do anything in and through you.

tions Jesus in Control (39-41)

Mark 4:39-4139 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!”

Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40 He said to his disciples,“Why are you so afraid?

Do you still have no faith?”

41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

tions Jesus in Control (39-41)

Jesus had demonstrated his amazing authority over evil spirits and physical illness. He had shown authority to forgive sins. Now he revealed that he was the Lord of all creation.
