Professional Highlights Do Your P’Art: 2000-2011

Participant, 2000- 2011: Organized and provided Skokie School students the opportunity to collaborate with students in the Chicago Public Schools, so children from different socio-economic backgrounds could “get to know one another” through the arts. Board Member and Curriculum Director, 2007-2011: Member of the Do Your P’Art Advisory Board, helped plan collaborations and write curriculum for approximately 1,000 school children. Participant, Summer of 2009: Sent to Ghana, Africa for 3 weeks to visit schools so that Chicago area students could have exchanges with Ghanaian students in the future.

District 36, Winnetka Public Schools, The Skokie School: 2000-Present Social and Emotional Learning Committee, 2000-2005: Served as a member of the district’s Social and Emotional Learning Committee. Reach Committee, 2010-2014 & 2003-2005: Participated in the planning and implementing of the social/emotional program REACH. This program promotes team building, good communication skills, helping others, positive methods in problem solving, and creating a safe and nurturing community. Develops art projects that use these skills and ideas to heighten children’s social and emotional well being. Curriculum Chair, 2010-2013 & 2002-2004: Supervised and assisted in the implementation of the art curriculum and assessment in Winnetka’s 5-building K-8 school district. Fulbright Memorial Fund: Teacher Fulbright to Japan, October 2003: Participated in an intensive 3-week cultural exchange, discovering unique characteristics about Japanese government, education, economics, music, theatre, and art. Worked with Japanese students and teachers to gain a better understanding of how education has changed to fit Japanese culture today. Presented Fulbright trip and findings at the National Art Education Conference in Denver (2004) and at the Illinois Art Education Conference (2004).
