Common Mistakes

• Not understanding the application and / or upfit– This is the basis of most errors. It will result in vehicles not optimally configured for the job

giving way to higher TCO and potential safety issues

• Under specing.– This is likely the most common error. It will increase maintenance costs, down time and

decrease efficiency. It has the potential to radically increase risk and liability as in the examples I just gave you.

• Chassis misapplied.– Using chassis for off road use not properly speced. This may cause warranty, liability and

mechanical problems

• Ordering the same truck as the last one.– Relying on past specs puts you in jeopardy when things change. This could be the job

application or regulations – be they Local or Federal.

• Lack of planning.– May result in buying what is available rather then what you want or need. This usually results

in paying a premium and again may be less safe.
