RISK & CHALLENGE
![Page 4: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
One of the main appeals to many participants of physical activity is that it offers both a challenge and an acceptable level of risk.
This must always remain in balance to ensure that activities are safe and suitable
![Page 5: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
CHALLENGING ACTIVITIESSome activities are clearly more
challenging than othersOAA have many challenges – *Climbing *Surfing
These types of activities require the environment to be
challenging in order to make taking part worthwhile
![Page 6: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
CHALLENGE - WITHIN ACTIVITIES
![Page 7: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
RISK ASSESSMENTPotential hazards or dangers are spotted
before any physical activity is undertaken.
All aspects of the sporting environment have to be considered in order to be sure that a degree of challenge is still present but that safety is fully considered.
What potential hazards/dangers may be spotted?
![Page 8: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
RISK CONTROL
Every effort has to be made by the participant and those in charge to ensure that the activity continues in a safe manner once the correct level of risk assessment has been carried out
![Page 9: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)

![Page 16: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Activity needs
Individual factors such
as age
Recreational activities

Training
![Page 20: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
TRAINING – turn sheet over
Who goes to a training session?
How often? Length of time?Is that free or do you have to pay?
![Page 21: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Available Time In order to become better time is
needed to train.
Professional performers will have a free choice of when to train BUT for amateur performers fitting in training times can be
hard
![Page 22: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
Available funds
Amount of money you have available will also have an effect
More funding can mean:More timeBetter training facilities and
equipmentPossibility to hire a specialist
trainer or fitness coach
![Page 23: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Levels of ParticipationPerformers at the highest level will seek
to train as often as possible.
For some performers this would be on a daily basis and PERIODISATION would be considered.
This is to ensure they PEAK at the right time (competition/major tournament etc)
![Page 24: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
This takes into account the competitive year:
Pre-Season – initial preparation, concentrating on fitness, developing techniques specific to activity
Peak Season – concentration on skills, ongoing fitness sessions as well as taking part in actual competition
Post-Season (or Off-Season) – mainly period of rest and recovery but still need to keep up levels of general fitness
![Page 25: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
In many activities now there are all-year-round demands on performers.
![Page 26: Learning Outcomes: ALL Discuss the risks & challenges that performers face](https://reader033.vdocuments.site/reader033/viewer/2022051622/568151d2550346895dc00e46/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
