Proposition and Support pattern- is text that presents an idea, or opinion. Then it provides supporting sentences to

show that the proposition is true

A Proposition states the opinion or idea of the writer. Example: Many rainforests are in danger.Supports are sentences or evidence that help show that the

writer’s opinion or idea is trueExample• They may be cut down by people who want to use land for

farming, mining, and building.• In some countries, there are now so many people that they

need more land for cities• In other places, people cut down forests for the wood from

trees
