Principal’s Message
Dear parents/carers,
The first half of this year has been like none we have experienced before. It
is with absolute delight that we have all students back to school and
undertaking face to face learning. All students should be commended on the
manner in which they have returned to school after a significant break and
have settled in beautifully. Classes are back in action and it has been a
pleasure visiting the classrooms and observing the amazing teaching and
learning that occurs across the school.
I have been fortunate enough to experience ‘cosmic yoga’ in Class Waratah,
participated in morning circle in Class Lilli Pilli, guessed the object in the ‘what
is it box’ in Class Bottlebrush, listened to Maths lesson in Class Banksia,
listened to the amazing singing in Class Wattle, observed an Art lesson in
Class Eucalyptus, observed a PE lesson with Class Grevillea and throughout the
semester watched classes participate in amazing Art lessons with Mr Aris and
PE lessons with Miss Margot. The passion and dedication of the staff at
Minerva makes it an absolute pleasure to witness the adjustments made and
the ways lessons are modified to support the needs of each and every
student.

This semester we have continued to make modifications to our school, some
classroom changes, all classes now having therapeutic swings, a large outdoor
swing installed, some beautiful canvases in the administration area and classes
equipped with new furniture. In Week 7 Term 2, the Therapy dog sessions also
commenced. This innovative and impactful experience provides students with
opportunities to learn new skills, regulate their emotions, engage in dog
training and are provided with sensory experiences through animal therapy.
Miss Bernadette our school counsellor has spent significant time organising
this wonderful experience and we are very grateful.

Crunch n Sip is an important whole school program that we are involved with
and feel that healthy eating and lifestyles are an important facet of the
curriculum that we deliver to the students. Thank you to all families who have
supported this initiative by sending their child to school with healthy fruits
and vegetables.

All our classes have participated in the
National Simultaneous Reading Challenge
reading “Chicken Divas” as part of a collective
initiative. Students were engaged in the online
reading of this book and then participated in a
range of fun and engaging activities.

We have had made some beautiful canvases of our students that have been placed in the administration area.
This term we have also introduced a new school uniform which has been so warmly embraced by the entire community. The students have been so proud to wear their new polo shirts, jackets and caps.
