Learning and Collaboration Technologies
The Competency and Skills System (CASS) Project began in 2015 with funding provided by the US Department of Defence Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative. CASS continues to be supported and funded by the ADL. CASS is an open source, community‐driven effort including the work of many individuals and organizations involved in competency‐based education and training. CASS facilitates machine readability and interoperability with other systems by automatically exposing competencies as linked and open data.

Learning Record Store (LRS)
The personal learning record store is the application interface for storing, accessing, and visualising the data about learning experiences, activities, and performance.
Learning management system will send or retrieve learning activity data will interact with the LRS as the data store for Experience API (xAPI)/Caliper data [3].
[3] Experience API (xAPI) is a technical specification developed by Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL). This data specification designed to allow the interoperable exchange of learning and performance activity data between various systems and applications. The Caliper Analytics Framework creates learning metric profiles to establish a basic and extensible common format for presenting learning activity data gathered from learner activity across multiple learning environments. The Caliperstandard was developed by IMS Global.
