1. Scissors2. Alcohol Wipes3. Root Riot or Rockwool Cube4. Clonex or Rooting Hormone5. Shallow Ceramic Bowl6. Mother Plant7. Gloves
What You Will Need...
Place Clonex in bowl...This is to ensure we do not cross contaminate the plants.
Clones are taken from “mother plants”.
Definition of Mother Plant: A plant kept in the vegetative phase strictly used for taking clones.
How do I keep a Mother plant in the Vegetative phase? Keep the lights on 18 hours a day.
Clone are taken from the Growth Tips of the plant.
Be sure the potential clone has at least 3 to 4 nodes.***
See Plant Anatomy Section for more information.
RED = 45° cut line
IMPORTANT : Clean scissors with alcohol wipes before each cut.
Take clone from bottom of your mother plant.Thicker stems tend to grow roots fast.
Carefully shave a thin amount of the outer layer of stem with scissors or razor in order to create more surface area for roots to grow.
Immediately place clone in Clonex bowl...Leave in Clonex for 4 - 5 minutes
Place clone in Root Riot or Rockwool...Be sure you get the plant about 3/4th’s to 1 inch deep.
Note: Before using your clone cubes!
Place your root riot/rockwool in RO* water and allow to sit for 15-30 minutes.
Remove cubes from water and squeeze out 75% of water.
They are now ready to use.
RO = Reverse Osmosis WaterSee tools section for more information.
Trim fan leaves...You can use trimming scissors to trim the fan leaves in order to help the stem support itself.
RED = cut line
Ideal equipment & pricing for cloning environment...
T5 LIGHTING SYSTEM OR LED
Seedling Heating Pad $10-15
Humidity Dome Kit $15-20
T5 Lighting System $100-150
Place clone in humidity dome.
T5 LIGHTING SYSTEM OR LED
Seedling Heating Pad
Humidity Level: 70%Temperature: 77-79°F
Be sure to remove the lid every other day to build humidity and allow fresh air into environment.
Watch your temperature and humidity closely
T5 LIGHTING SYSTEM OR LEDNOTE: Consider using a digital humidity reader to assist with gauging temperature and humidity levels
Watch your temperature and humidity closely
T5 LIGHTING SYSTEM OR LEDNOTE: You can spray the inside of the humidity dome lid to assist in raising the humidity level.
Watch your temperature and humidity closely
T5 LIGHTING SYSTEM OR LEDNOTE: Closing all the ports/vents on your humidity dome lid will also cause a higher level of humidity while opening the ports/vents will cause less...
Keep in humidity dome for 3 - 4 weeks
T5 LIGHTING SYSTEM OR LEDNOTE: Lighting schedule will be set to…
ON: 18 HoursExample: 7:00am - 1:00am
OFF: 6 HoursExample: 1:00am - 7:00am
See “Timers Section” for more information on automating your grow...
Keep cubes moist, not soaked...
T5 LIGHTING SYSTEM OR LEDNOTE: Water around the seed once a day, just enough to keep the cube moist, not soaked… You do not want to drown the clone.

Flower...Only produced by female plants, as noted above, flowers are what contain both the psychoactive and medicinal properties for which marijuana is highly valued. In preparing marijuana for sale at dispensaries, flowers are trimmed down to buds rich in the chemical compounds that get you high or heal you. Flowers bloom from a part of the plant called the cola or bud stem. Female plants that haven't been pollinated by male plants produce flowers without seeds, known as sensimilla (from the Spanish "sin semilla,"without seeds." These flowers possess the most potent psychoactive properties.
Flower...
Trichomes...These are tiny nodules that grow on the leaves, stems and flowers, occurring in the highest concentration along the surface of flowers. Trichomes are rich in both psychoactive in medicinal chemicals, as well as aromatic coils called terpenes. Dried trichome resin is harvested from buds to create Keif, a potent, powdery substance that is sometimes added to a joint to enhance it psychoactive effects. Trichomes are also essential to the production of hashish.
Trichomes...
Using Trichomes to Determine When to Harvest...
Leaves...The five or seven pointed marijuana leaf has become a widely recognized symbol of cannabis culture. Leaves possess some psychoactive and medicinal properties, but not as much is flowers. Leaves were more commonly smoked by cannabis users in the 70's and earlier. More recent emphasis has been on the flower buds, which pack much more of a psychoactive kick.
Leaves...
Stem...The central stock that supports the entire plant, the stem is made up of strong, lengthy fibers that are used to produce hemp – the material from which rope, textiles, paper and a variety of other useful products can be made.
Stem...
Roots...Like the stem, the roots of marijuana plant can be used to produce hemp. In many ancient cultures, cannabis roots were dried and ground to create a healing unguent for burns and other topical applications.
Roots...
Seeds...The seeds of the cannabis plant have the nutritional value roughly equal to that of flax or soy. They can be used to make cooking oil and a variety of other food products, not to mention cosmetic products as well. And of course the sale of desirable seed strains for cultivation is a profitable business in itself.

Start with Decarboxylation...
Decarboxylation is simply “a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group and releases carbon dioxide (CO2)”. When it comes to marijuana, decarboxylation effectively removes the COOH group from the THC-A molecule by releasing H2O (water) and CO2 (carbon dioxide), turning it into the psychoactive THC.
Carboxyl groups are weak acids, dissociating partially to release hydrogen ions. The carboxyl group (symbolized as COOH) has both a carbonyl and a hydroxyl group attached to the same carbon atom, resulting in new properties.
How do we “Decarb”?
