2016 Kent International Festival The 8th Annual Kent International Fes-tival is the one day event each year where all Kent and south King Coun-ty residents can celebrate their cul-tural heritage together. This is done through entertainment on three stag-es; cultural, information and vendor booths; and the International Taste of Kent Food Court featuring eight local ethnic restaurants.
FEATURED ACTIVITIESWorld Wide WalkHalf mile walk starting at the Farmer’s Market and ending at ShoWare 9:30 to 10:00 am Hope you enjoyed the walk this morn-ing at 9:30 that was sponsored by Ken-t4Health. If you missed this kickoff multi-cultural walk, you missed a lot of fun. Those attending the beginning event of the Festival walked from the Farmer’s Market next to the Kent Library to Sho-Ware. Some walkers wore their cultural clothing and showed off their heritage. If you missed the walk, come early next year and help kick off a day where Kent and south King County residents all come together to “Learn from Each Other.”space
Art Exhibition on the Arena10:00 am to 4:00 pm The Kent Community Foundation, work-ing with Kent School District art students and their teachers, have displayed art ex-pressing the theme of “Learn from Each Other”. These represent elementary, mid-dle and high school students from one the most diverse areas of the country.
Passport Cultural BoothsThese booths are located in the con-course and one outside on the Plaza. Please visit each of these and participate in the interactive activity. This year we are
having attendees and also judges vote for the Best Passport Cultural Booth for this year. The winning booth will get a special sign at next year’s festival – Best Passport Cultural Booth 2016. Stop at the KIF In-formation Booth and cast your vote.
Plaza boothsOutside on the plaza we have a large variety of booths for you to visit. Some offer services to the Kent Community. Others are selling cultural items from other countries from around the world. Many of our Sponsors also have a booth outside on the Plaza. Take a stroll on the plaza and visit these wonderful booths.
This is the third year of the KIF Art Poster that honors a cultural tradition found in our community. Artist Jaci Sawtelle creates these posters with images from past festi-vals. The 2016 Art Poster honors Guinea, Af-rica and the people who have been adding to our community’s culture for decades.
Purchase your collector Art Posters from 2014 and 2015 and the new 2016 Art Poster at the Information Booth in the Concourse. Buy one or two or all three. $10 a poster.
All monies from the posters go back into Kent Inter-national Festival for funding next year.
