SAMR Level Assessment Comments

Redefinition Teachers were introduced to the SAMR model earlier this year, but additional PD is needed to examine the different levels and evaluate movement among the levels. Additional PD is planned for later this year, after which teachers will begin reflecting on SAMR levels for their lessons and plan next steps.

We have not yet collected data to quantify the percentage of teachers implementing each level of the SAMR model. After more PD and teacher lesson reflections (as stated above), we will begin collecting data.

Key Action Implementation Activities Responsible Person Target Date

Key Action 1:Effective and Successful S2H Workshops

Include student in parent outreach- In efforts to gain more parent participation, we asked students to encourage their parents in attending S2H workshops. This in turn gave us a high rate of parent participation at the beginning of the school year. Next year this means starting earlier, hopefully in the early summer for incoming students/ parents

Grisel Vasquez Continuing

Key Action 2:Accommodating Parents Unable to Attend Workshop

Conduct 1:1 or small group S2H parent workshops- As a result of this strategy we are able to accommodate more parents. We continue to conduct these 1:1 or small group workshops for our newer parents as the need grows with added enrollment.

Grisel Vasquez Continuing

Key Action 3:Providing Teachers with Development with the SAMR model

Educating teachers on the SAMR model. Teachers have been given some guidance on using Chromebooks for creation and authentic uses, but professional development on SAMR in particular has not been given and needs to be a priority after we finish our current schedule of PD.

Key Action 4:Improve understanding of technology in the classroom for key stakeholders (teachers, parents, and students) during the school year and the summer.

During the summer we were able to plan and set goals regarding technology use in the classroom for the 2017-2018 school year. As a result we have been somewhat successful in implementing our parent, student and teacher piece. We need to expand this summer development, meaning we need more buy-in from teachers in regards to authentic use, more parent enthusiasm and more student engagement. In particular, we want to empower our students not just as creators but also as tech experts for their peers.

Key Action 5:Allocate more time for PD based around overall best practices w/ technology in the classroom

At the beginning of the school year we had PD time on best practices for our staff but a struggle for us has been finding time for classroom observations and give feedback on tech usage. We would like to add more PD time focused on providing technological best practices in the classroom.

Furthermore, they understand that technology is a partner that takes learning to the next level and not leading the instruction.
