LEADERA leader is "a person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal". A leader is someone whom others voluntarily follow.

FOLLOWERIt can mean someone who believes in the teachings and directions of another.

COMMUNICATIONlead through two-way communication. Much of it is nonverbal. For instance, when you “set the example,” that communicates to your people that you would not ask them to perform anything that you would not be willing to do. What and how you communicate either builds or harms the relationship between you and your employees.

SITUATIONThe general state of things; the combination of circumstances at a given time

Leadership styles

Leadership style is the manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans, and motivating people. Kurt Lewis (1939) led a group of researchers to identify different styles of leadership. This early study has been very influential and established three major leadership styles. The three major styles of leadership are :

• Authoritarian or autocratic • Participative or democratic • Delegative or Free Reign
