YOUTH NEWS
Amazing group of kids !!!!!!!!!! On
Wednesday the group went to Closet
Treasures and picked up clothes for our
clothes closet. They made short work of
it by all working together.
Sign ups for the fall retreat are
coming to an end. The retreat is on
October 2 at 3:00. We will leave the
building at 2:00. The bus will be returning
to the church building at noon on
Wednesday. We are so excited to go.
Dinner on Wednesday was
Spaghetti, salad (with strawberries and
grapes) and garlic bread. Thank you
Marilyn Wilkins for the brownies.
Sunday night we had an excellent
devotion at the home of Mike and Mandy
Cocke. We had a talk on character and
how to build it. Hailey McKaskle
volunteered to be secretary for
fellowship groups. We really appreciated
the hospitality of the Cocke's. Thank you
again.
Take Our Advice
Proverbs is a collection of wise sayings that'll guide you through
just about anything life might throw your way. The book is
packed with good advice. So, from Proverbs, here's our Top 10
List of wise words for life:
1. Guidance "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not
on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).
2. Discernment "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in
the end it leads to death" (Proverbs 14:12).
3. Confidence "Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin
that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence
and will keep your foot from being snared" (Proverbs 3:25-26).
4. Work "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be
wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its
provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long
will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your
sleep?" (Proverbs 6:6-9)
5. Relationships "A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but
the way of the wicked leads them astray" (Proverbs 12:26).
6. Sexual purity "Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let
her captivate you with her eyes, for the prostitute reduces you to
a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life ...
Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?"
(Proverbs 6:25-26, 28)
7. Money "Whoever trusts in riches will fall, but the righteous
will thrive like a green leaf" (Proverbs 11:28).
8. Parents "Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not
despise your mother when she is old ... May your father and
mother be glad; may she who gave you birth rejoice!" (Proverbs
23:22, 25)
9. Compassion "He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and He will reward him for what he has done" (Proverbs 19:17).
10. The future
"There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be
cut off" (Proverbs 23:18).

Pictured is the Church of Christ on the island of
Anguilla. Our brothers and sisters there have
requested batteries, flashlights, weather radios,
and water filters. Your help is vital to making
sure these needs are met! Funds that are raised
will go toward purchasing and sending a large
quantity of these items.
In addition to Anguilla, we are in contact with
Churches in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Croix,
Dominica, and the Bahamas. We will update you
with their needs as they become available to us.
