YouthSpeak YouthSpeak is not just another survey but a Global Youth Movement aimed to shine the light on the issues that matter, create awareness and generate actions. We are focused on understanding the challenges and hopes surrounding young people today. Over 100 countries and territories and 100,000 voices will be captured in this comprehensive survey to engage stakeholders across government, business, the third sector in letting the voices of young people be heard. Throughout 2016, we will be engaging major decision makers ranging from the United Nations, universities and some of the largest employers in the world. Join the YouthSpeak Movement and take the survey at http://thndr.me/k5MVhd. An Intern’s Experience: The Story of Sharifa I was blessed to spend six weeks of my summer holidays in Hyderabad, India, on an exceptionally interesting internship. I have had the opportunity to work as a full-time English and Personality Development teacher for a month, teaching students from grades five to nine. My main objective was to increase their confidence levels and aid them in developing a sense of individuality. Most of my teaching sessions would have the ‘Golden Rule’ written on the board with a marker, the rule being: Know yourself! Unsurprisingly, the more I taught students to explore who they were as individuals, I learnt more about myself as well. Overall, the journey was challenging yet rewarding. I met people from different parts of the world from Egypt, Turkey, Brazil, Cambodia, Bahrain, Malaysia, China, and more. It was my first time to meet someone from Cambodia and my first time to live with all these different nationalities in one place! I am thankful for this opportunity and would gladly encourage any AIESEC member that is interested in going abroad and experiencing a new culture, to go for it fearlessly! Living each day as our last is not a myth or some phrase that is to be said. It is a reality that should be lived, and being of greater service to people adds a lot of value and contentment to one’s life. Recruitment 2015|16 Over 80 people registered. Less than half made it through... Nearly a month after it started, the selection process is finally over. Real work starts at the Local Chapter of AIESEC in Middlesex University Mauritius Branch Campus. Some amazing and truly motivated people have joined the force. New blood not only means that the Local Chapter has new leaders in the making but also that we are evolving even more. After all, impossible is nothing! Embracing Diversity Every person you have ever walked past – they have had a lifetime of experiences that shaped them into who they are today. Ignore the labels that are placed on an individual and purely look at the experiences that have shaped him/her. Put yourself in their shoes and make a connection to their experiences. You don’t have to love every single difference – just understand and appreciate them. That is embracing diversity.
