Key Numbers and Issues: 96% Test Average Convergence; 92% or higher for 26 of 27 Test Hours; 100% for 21 of 27 Test
Hours. The majority of issues that arose during the test were attributable to Zonal-Nodal mismatches and missing Nodal telemetry.
On Sep 8, convergence started low at 23.08% for Hour Ending (HE) 0900 owing to bus mismatches, erroneous breaker statuses, and multiple telemetry issues that accumulated during the non-Business Hours preceding testing. During HE 1300, convergence dipped to 92.31% due to bad Nodal telemetry and mis-mapped SCADA points. ERCOT-side Manual Replacements (MRs) were made to correct these issues.
On Sep 9, convergence rates achieved 100% for all test hours, although ERCOT-side MRs were made throughout the test to adjust for missing Nodal telemetry, Zonal-Nodal mismatches, erroneous breaker status, and other telemetry issues.
On Sep 10, ERCOT discontinued MRs (see details on next slide).
http://nodal.ercot.com 11
FIT Update: State Estimator - FIT III Week 15
Lead from the frontTexas Nodal
On Sept 10, ERCOT discontinued ERCOT-side MRs for the first time during a FIT window.
The ERCOT State Estimator (SE) continued to solve during test hours with convergence rates comparable to those achieved during previous FIT windows.
Factors contributing to this success included:Code enhancements that deployed to the Nodal
production environment in AugustICCP updates that were recently submitted by
Market Participants (MPs)Robustness of the SE software
http://nodal.ercot.com 12
FIT Update: State Estimator - FIT III Week 15 (continued)
On Sept 10, ERCOT discontinued making MRs for Nodal telemetry
The SE convergence performance on Sept 10 promotes confidence that the software has matured to a point that ERCOT may continue to conduct future FIT windows without the need to facilitate SE solutions via ERCOT-side MRs.
The Sept 10 success may be seen as a good indicator of SE solution capability, but more work is needed in the area of measurement quality (see next slide).
Lead from the frontTexas Nodal
To date, the outreach effort has focused primarily on Market Participants who are missing the largest share of ICCP points in Nodal.
ERCOT teams are now preparing to work with MPs to address a broader scope of missing points and clean-up issues.
The ERCOT Advanced Network Applications, ICCP, Client Services, and EDS teams have scheduled a series of weekly internal meetings through the end of 2009 to discuss outreach progress and to coordinate follow-ups with MPs.
As the outreach effort progresses, the quality of measurements used in each SE solution is expected to improve, along with overall confidence in SE solutions.
Information regarding the outreach effort and upcoming FIT windows will continue to be communicated via market notices, stakeholder meetings, and the regularly scheduled EDS market calls (http://www.ercot.com/committees/nodal/eds/).

QSE Information Update Request(originally presented 9/04/09)
Lead from the frontTexas Nodal
QSE Information Update Request
• As we near Market Trials, ERCOT is asking that all QSE’s and TSP’s update needed information
• Each MP will receive an email by the end of next week directing them to the attached spreadsheet
• The spreadsheet will have inputs for the following:– Primary / Back-up contact information for each of the functional
areas (e.g. DAM, RTM, ICCP, Settlements, CRR….), Accountable Executive, Authorized Rep and Nodal Project Manager
• We ask that at least 1 back-up be provided for each area• There is space to add up to 3 back-ups
– Listener URL for notifications sent from ERCOT to MP’s (this is to confirm what we already have on file is correct)
– Email address where notification failure alerts will be sent

ERCOT Certificate Request(originally presented 9/04/09)
Lead from the frontTexas Nodal
ERCOT Certificate Request
• ERCOT is requesting test digital certificates issued by voluntary MP’s:– Agenda and presentation to be posted 10/2 to the ERCOT calendar:
http://www.ercot.com/calendar/2009/10/20091008-EDS – Aug 27, 2009 ERCOT released all nodal roles to the production MPIM (Market Participant
Identity Management)– ERCOT is asking for volunteer MP’s to generate a certificate for their company containing only
these Nodal roles for a user called NODALTEST1Note that we have placed a 1 on the user to avoid conflicts with the previously used NODALTEST user.
– NEW: This user should have the “web services” checkbox checked when creating the certificate– Once created, email the NODALTEST1 certificate to [email protected]
Note that Scott Middleton will serve as the central point of control for these certificates– Once we have completed the 168 hour test, MP USA’s may revoke this certificate (ERCOT will
also destroy it)– ERCOT would like a core set of certificates in place by October 1, 2009

NODALTEST Certificates Expiration(originally presented 8/07/09)
Lead from the frontTexas Nodal
Standing reports and updates: Certificates (reminder)
• NODALTEST Certificate Expirations– All NODALTEST certificates will expire over the next several
months– These certificates will not be renewed– In order to continue to test in the sandbox, MP’s may use any valid
ERCOT certificate– When the Nodal Production environment is deployed in October,
MP’s will use their current (zonal) certificate. – MP USA’s will need to add the appropriate Nodal roles depending
on the testing that user will perform– Note: Nodal roles will not have an affect on zonal system usage
