Overlooking the Quartier des Spectacles, curvilinear building honours Montreal’s jazz giant.

By the time the striking archi-tecture of the 31-storey condominium Le Peter-

son takes its place on the skyline of Montreal in the fall of 2015, it will no doubt turn the heads of the thousands who stroll through Montreal’s Quartier des spec-tacles entertainment playground.

Developers Groupe Benven-uto made an inspired decision tipping their hat to one of Mont-real’s best-known entertain-ers, legendary jazz pianist Oscar Peterson.

As much as a look at a model of the finished project with its curved balconies might con-jure up images of a grand piano, Groupe Benvenuto associate owner Mitch Abrahams said, Le Peterson design was also about the feel and movement of a num-ber of local and international influences.

“The name translates well with Montrealers. And curves are part of our city if you look at the St. Lawrence River and the Biosphere.” he said, referring to the Buckminster Fuller-designed American pavilion for Expo 67.

The lounge in Le Peterson is circular with the centrepiece being a grand piano, not unlike the kind that jazz musician Oscar Peterson used to play for crowds of enthralled fans.

The one-bedroom units on floors 11-28 have exotic names like Tango and Afrique, ranging from 536 square feet ($276,000) to 576 square feet for $324,000. Two-bedroom units with names like Jazz, Pop and the more sed-ate Bach, sell for $413,900 to $522,900 for 821 and 982 square feet respectively.

Le Peterson’s penthouses afford spectacular views of the city further enhanced by the floor-to-ceiling windows, which are also are part of the lofts and suites on the lower floors.

The 24 penthouses come with a choice of three design options – again working the music scene theme – the Metropolis, Club Soda and Spectrum. Looking out, penthouse residents might very well see some of the Mont-real landmarks used to name the eight different models.

From the 1,060 square-foot Jacques Cartier to the 1,517 square-foot Place des Arts, Le

Peterson penthouses have style and panache.

All lofts, suites and pent-houses will come equipped with washer/dryer, fridge and stove. A 24/7 concierge service provides security and the kind of personal service that gives Le Peterson an intimate boutique hotel feel.

The curvilinear look of Le Peterson is interrupted on floors 25-27 for a climbing wall, gym, yoga studio and a three-storey outdoor lounge and terrace with soothing water feature.

The ground floor, too, is not without its amenities. Condo owners and their guests can take advantage of the piano music lounge and fully functional kitch-en alongside party and games rooms. And visitors from out of town, or perhaps facing a long drive home, are welcome to bunk in at Le Peterson’s ground floor guest suite.
