Visiting artists may relax and draw inspiration from the manor’ historic heritage and serene environment.The primary activity at the manor is reaping the lush agricultural organic production of its farmlands, including a medicinal garden .

Le Manoir Equivocal

A garden destined for rest, a place where the spirit wanders freely in nature, in a hitherto unseen landscape. In chinese philosophy such a setting is thought to promote wisdom. Numerous chinese intellects value the tranquility of nature because it allows one to escape from reality, thus nourishing the spirit and readying the soul for artistic achievement.

It flees from proof, it longs for questioning.

By creating uncertainty and ambiguity, doubt keeps us hesitant,

dreaming, and ignites our curiosity.Doubt is an interrogation that opposes certainty.

Uncertainty covers itself in doubt and calls for interpretations. Doubt raises ideas and then complicates them.

Burgundy’s numerous charms attract tourists year-round. The 15th century manor is nestled in the heart of Burgundy, a region famed for its prized wines, culinary delights, rich history, and impressive architecture. Sprawling vineyards of chardonnay and pinor noir encercle the Manor and its host village of Corgoloin. Burgundy has long been heralded as a cultural beacon known throughout Europe and the world. Innumerable acclaimed festivals are hosted in the region, including the Beaune International Festival of Baroque Opera and a celebration of Saint Vincent Tournante (the patron saint of winegrowers). The festival in honor of Saint Vincent Tournante shall take place this year in the manor’s village (Corgoloin).

Burgundy hosts a number of internationally acclaimed cultural events each year. Prominent among them are Beaune’s International Festival of Baroque Opera and the grand festival of Saint Vincent Tournante, patron saint of winegrowers. The later will take place in the manor’s village of Corgoloin in 2011. manoir’s village of Corgoloin.

The 15th century medieval manor is listed in the official register of French historic monuments. The property was owned by none other than Nicolas Rolin: esteemed chancellor to the Duke of Burgundy whose troops captured Joan of Arc in 1430; artistic patron to reknowned flemish painter Jan Van Eyck whose paintings dawn the Louvre; and Rolin, together with his wife Guigone de Salins, founded the Hospices de Beaune, one of the world’s best-known charitable institutions. Major renovations to the manor were completed in 2010. Today it is owned by Madame Mireille Lenoir-Senard.

The manor is a square building featuring barred windows and a tower with a pointed roof. Its spacious rooms

have grand chimneys and soaring beamed ceilings.

simple and elegant facade that perfectly completes the manor’s

courtyard.

The dovecoTe

The dovecote is a tower located in a corner of the manor’s ancient walls. It

has a pigeon house on the upper floors and an elegant dome-topped room on the

ground floor.

A stone wall links the manor to the dovecote, and the dovecote to the barn. A pathway is planned for the top of the wall. This loop will allow visitors to circulate freely among the three main buildings on the

grounds: the dovecote, the barn, and the manor.

BArn

MAnor 庄园主体建筑为方形结构，中部为一尖顶旋绕楼梯的高塔，窗户为尖拱十字石窗条的制作风格。（该窗为中世纪与文艺复兴过渡期的典型样式）该庄园内有数间宽敞的，配有保存完好的法式木制横梁吊顶与大取暖火炉的房间。

高塔是庄园防御围墙的一部分。该塔配备两个射击孔。除了能通过梯子攀登的建筑顶部的鸽棚以外，高塔的底部则为一石拱顶的小环形空间。

谷仓作为庄园的另一建筑副体，空间感极其宽敞，其建筑外墙体也十分的简洁精致。

石墙联系着庄园建筑主体与高塔，高塔与谷仓。在此石墙上，将会重新建造一通道，从而连起三种风格与实用性迥然不同的建筑空间，便于参观者通过另一种方式对止园有新的认知。

The dovecote is a tower located in a corner of the manor’s ancient walls. It

has a pigeon house on the upper floors and an elegant dome-topped room on the

The cellar is composed of two large vaulted rooms in

excellent condition.

On top of the hamlet’s Moux’s hill, sits peacefully the soft pink manor dressed in smooth plaster and 15th century stones. Lined with a large barn, stone walls, a dovecote, and rolling cereal hills, with the turn of one’s head, your gaze strolls from Mont Blanc to the golden vines of Burgundy. Le Manoir Equivocal will host Chinese and Western artists in its vast stone barn,

adjacent to the manor. Visiting artists will have not only a place to rest, but also

studios and spaces for events open to the public. Currently the building is used for agricultural purposes and houses a

farmer in a fully equipped apartment.

Tofu in the barn - green tea in the cellar Le Manoir Equivocal’s primary activity

will be reaping the lush agricultural production of its farmlands. In keeping

with its focus on China, its cuisine and culture, the manor will also host a

traditional Tofu and soy milk workshop that will exploit the organic soy

produced on the farm.

Housing for the artists will be located in the barn so they can have access to their studios day and night. The manor will provide them a comfortable and cozy place where artists and the public can gather, relax and reflect.
