• In August 2010, LC requested comments on a proposal to revise AACR2 headings using the abbreviation “Dept.”
• Library community generally supported it, but there was no clear mandate
• LC will not change headings with the abbreviation “Dept.” to the fuller form “Department” at this time

• Vai language romanization table– Approved by the ALA Committee on Cataloging:

• Thai language romanization table– Proposals for revision of the table will appear in
CSB, issue no. 128– Comments may be sent by March 31, 2011 to

• Now includes personal names from 18 national libraries and other research institutions
• Test records from three other institutions are under review
• Corporate name data from some of the participating institutions has been added since August 2010

• Annotated Card (AC) Program– Purpose: “To provide a more appropriate and in-
depth subject treatment of juvenile titles and to offer easier subject access to those materials.”
• Now called the Children’s and Young Adults’ Cataloging Program – Children’s Subject Headings
• Application of headings and MARC coding (second indicator “1”) are unchanged

• On June 2, 2010 “Cookery” was revised to “Cooking” wherever it appeared in LCSH
• PSD received 98 overwhelmingly favorable comments on the proposed change
• SHM H 1475, Cooking and Cookbooks, was revised and distributed in Update #2 (2010)

• PSD will add MARC 21 field 072 (Subject Category Code) to subject authority records beginning in the first half of 2011– Will contain the instruction sheet number(s) for
applicable pattern and free-floating subdivisions– Reciprocal with the 073 in subdivision authority
records
• SACO libraries may not add or edit the field at this time
