) Dear Mrs. Roosevelt:

Schuyler, Nebraska January 1 6 , 1947 ~

I am encl osing a c ompl imentary copy of my volume of verse, 11Mi's Day" and hope you will f orgive the seeming impertinence of the title .

' I have always had the greatest respect and admiration for you and held your l a te husband in esteem a nd affection.

"Mi 's Day" may not measure up in literary quality to My Day but I like to find a small parallel in our l ives . I am also the mother of five children, four sons, the oldest, t hirteen, the younges t, twenty- two months. And a daughter, eight. We too , lost a beloved baby.

As t he wife of a Northwestern Bell Telephone manager, I. have traveled extensively, 0if only about the state of Nebraska) and I think I can equal your speed record in chalking up mileage around our eight-room house and from laundry to a chronically weary clot£esline .

Hoping you will enJoy the 'poems inspired by the l ittle incidents whicR touch a mother's heart or tickle her funny-bone, I remai n,

Very
