LIFEBEGINS 15 L aura Bruce was born on December 26th, 1996 and resides in the community of Gros Islet. Laura prides herself on being a well-rounded individual. As a National swimmer, Laura’s talent and commitment to the sport has allowed her to proudly represent Saint Lucia both regionally and internationally. As an avid artist, she currently runs a small business selling her artwork at hotel boutiques. At the 2013 graduation ceremony of the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary school, Laura graduated with top marks and received the Sports Woman of the Year award as well as multiple sports and academic awards. Additionally, Laura received the prestigious Principal’s award from both her secondary school, Leon Hess Comprehensive School and college, The International School of St. Lucia. Laura is currently employed at Bank of Saint Lucia International Limited as a Project Support Officer. She intends to further her education to pursue studies in medicine. Her goal in life is to become a doctor in order to help others enjoy the richness and quality of life that comes with optimum health. Reason for Participating I am applying to participate in the Saint Lucia National Carnival Queen Pageant because I believe that this opportunity will be a journey of self-discovery. By participating in this pageant I will learn many valuable life skills and lessons, and will undoubtedly become a more confident and poised young lady. I love that carnival encapsulates the true essence of our culture through different art forms, such as the vividly bright costumes, music, art and dance. As an artist and contender I am extremely excited to be a part of this experience. Being provided with this platform I will have the chance to showcase my skills and talents on a national stage and to realize one of my dreams of making a positive contribution towards the arts whilst inspiring others.
