Edition
LAUNCH OF “BEAUTIFUL CHINA—2014 YEAR OF SMART TRAVEL” The launching ceremony of ―Beautiful China—2014 Year of Smart Travel‖ and the website for the overseas promotion
of tourism in China, was held in Beijing last January 21.
CNTA Vice President Du Jiang launched the event and the website together with chiefs of Beijing Tourism Group, OCT
Group, CYTS, Qunar and other large tourism enterprises. Present at the launching ceremony were over 200
representatives from telecommunication carriers such as China Mobile and China Unicom, official foreign tourism
agencies in China, relevant departments of CNTA, and various media in Beijing.
It is reported that CNTA released ―Beautiful China‖ China Tourism Image in February 2013 and that is has since
organized nearly 100 promotional events at home and abroad. To forge ―Beautiful China‖ into a core brand of Chinese
tourism and form a lasting promotional effect, CNTA will design a series of China tourism years around this theme in the
coming years. For the year 2014, the event was entitled ―Beautiful China—2014 Year of Smart Travel‖.
NATIONAL TOURISM CONFERENCE 2014 IN BEIJING
The 2014 National Tourism Conference was convened in Beijing last
January 6. The main task of the conference is to review the development
of the national tourist industry in 2013, and make arrangements for key
tasks for the year 2014.
CNTA Chairman Shao Qiwei delivered a work report during the
conference and other CNTA officials attended as well. Representatives
of the General Office of the State Council, the Central Organization
Department of CPC Central Committee, the National Development and
Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the National Audit
Office, the Central Steering Group for the Party Mass Line Education
and Practice Movement, and some other central ministries and
commissions were also invited to attend the meeting.
The Party Central Committee and the State Council attached great importance to the development of tourism and have given a series of
important instructions on the current and future development of the tourist industry. They said that they must and will conscientiously carry
out these important instructions and opinions and perform their duty to the best of their ability.
SHANGHAI AIRPORT: MOST EFFICIENT
VISA CHECKS IN THE WORLD Good boost for China airports passenger handling
efficiency. Airports Council International, a trade
representative of the world’s airports, tested more
than 100 major airports around the globe in the third
quarter and ranked Pudong first in terms of ―waiting
time for visa check.‖
IMPROVED EASE OF FLIGHT IN CHINA Travelers will now have more ease in traveling to China as they’ve made
aviation standard to lessen air traffic. To help alleviate congestion in air
transportation, Beijing Area Control Center has shortened the interval
between flights on the same route and height from 40 kilometers to 30
kilometers. The decision was only made after the bureau and the Civil
Aviation Administration of China fully considered the airspace structure as
well as communication, navigation, and surveillance capability.
The new standard will first be implemented in Beijing, Shanghai and
Guangzhou, with nationwide implementation targeted for March 1, 2014.
The Pudong International Airport has been China’s mainland’s busiest airport for 10 years. It has an advanced electronic system to monitor
passenger flow, while batches of officers receive training every week. Terminal 2 of the Pudong International Airport can open up to 47
channels and deal with 70 to 90 passengers in a minute. Almost 70,000 passengers use the airport daily, with a high record of 95,000.
Beijing Capital International Airport is third on the list and another two more China airports on the top 10 such as: Longjia International
Airport in Changchun, capital of northeastern China’s Jilin Province, which ranked fifth, followed by the Meilan International Airport in
Haikou, capital of the southern island province Hainan.
TRAVELIFE’S ROCKWELL TRAVEL FAIR 2014
SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED
Travelife Magazine successfully organized Rockwell Travel Fair last January 17-19, 2014, in
which China Panorama was a part of. The event was attended by so many dignitaries from the
diplomatic corps and many of the visitors were frequent travelers who were looking for the
upcoming Holy week and summer tours for their family vacation.
It was great to know that our consistent China tourism promotion may have reached these
people, for they surprisingly knew a lot of details of different China destinations that we have
been offering. Some of which that they were mostly interested into were as follows: Xian, as
they were amazed by the Terracotta Warriors; Shanghai and Beijing, as the usual China
destination; Guilin for they heard of its beautiful landscapes; Guangzhou after we’ve
introduced Chimelong for families with kids; The Three Gorges, with its surrounding beauty of
nature and luxurious cruise; the mysterious Tibet; some still on Harbin, for they were enticed
with the gigantic snow sculptures during the Ice & Snow Festival; and some even on the
ancient trade route of Silk Road.
They are now excitedly waiting for our set departures on these destinations and some even
wants to have it customized. Most of the visitors got a copy of travel guides, maps and books
from China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) that we were giving out, as well as our
readymade videos of different China destinations.

EXPO 2014
ESSENCE OF AROUND CHINA:
MT. WUYI, XIAMEN
AND JINMEN
The three-storeyJuguang Tower should be your first stop for an overview of the rich history and culture of Jinmen. It was built in 1952 as a
memorial to the fallen soldiers of Jinmen. Inside the tower are exhibition halls displaying documents and materials concerning the history and
current status of Jinmen. Another interesting destination in Jinmen is the Zhaishan Tunnel, located southeast of Gugang Lake, which is an
underground tunnel that leads directly to the ocean from the inner land. The excavation of the tunnel was launched in 1961 and completed. The
tunnel serves mainly to preserve the combat capability of military boats. Many more fascinating places to see in Jinmen like the Mumahou
Temple, Kinchen Tunnel, Kinmen National Park, Suietou Village & Huang’s ancient house; De-yuie Tower, Tzuhu Lake, SuonLi Wetland,
and Memorial Arch to Chiu Liang-gong's Mother &Suietou Wharf. All are important destinations that make Jinmen a very interesting place to
visit in terms of history and culture. Same day Ferry to Xiamen, and fly to Manila the day after.
China Panorama’s EC5D Mt. Wuyi, Xiamen or with Jinmen itinerary is readily available for every interested traveler. Contact any of our offices
for more information and bookings.
Then visitors will explore the scenic spots of Wuyi Palace, which is the oldest of its kind at Mt. Wuyi. The first emperor of the Han dynasty had
send emissary here to build temples to consecrate the Saint Wuyi. After this scenic spot, visitors will then visit the Tianyou Peak, which is the
No. 1 must-see spot in the Mt. Wuyi area. It is situated north of the Fifth and the Sixth Crooks, with ever-changing cloud reflections in the water
and sun shining through the fog. After rainfalls or when dawn breaks, the ever-shrouding clouds allow only the tip of the mountain to be visible,
hence its name ―Tianyou‖, which literally means ―roaming in heaven‖. And to sum-up the night, travelers will enjoy viewing the Da Hong Pao
Cultural Show, which highlights the splendid scenery of Wuyi Mountain and its rich tea culture.
The following morning, travelers will get back to Xiamen via bullet train and enjoy shopping before going back to Manila the day after.
If travelers want to extend their stay, then Jinmen is the closest and easiest way. Visitors can visit Jinmen via ferry, which is an island located
near Xiamen which has a large number of traditional Min style buildings and military sites that are open to tourists. It is a unique island that has a
nice and cozy atmosphere, with its white sandy beaches, picturesque hiking trails, rich cultural heritage and of course its delicious local dishes
that can assure you a remarkable expedition.
China Panorama introduces Mt. Wuyi, Xiamen with Jinmen (EC5D) itinerary which is a part of this year’s Essence of Around China tour
series.
Taking a 3-hour bullet-train ride from Xiamen, travelers will reach Mt. Wuyi that is located south of Fujian province. Wuyishan
(shan=mountain) is noted for its breath-taking landscape and has been dubbed as ―the most beautiful mountain in Southeast China‖, with both
alpine and water scenic beauty combined in one. It was added to UNESCO’s list of Natural and Cultural World Heritage Sites in 1999.
Firstly, travelers will go for an exciting drifting adventure in the centerpiece of Mt. Wuyi, the Nine-Turning Stream using bamboo rafts that are
available for the visitors. Its meandering course forms nine distinct crooks or angles and is flanked on either side by mountain peaks and stones
of unusual shapes that are interwoven with various watercourses. While drifting smoothly with the water's flow, you will appreciate the lush trees
on spectacular mountains with a refreshing cool breeze that brushes past you as you feel the splash of water upon your face where the water
rushes through the narrows between high cliffs. A great adventure in awe-inspiring surroundings!

Nihao!
Welcome to the 42nd
edition, February 2014 issue of China Panorama E-Newsletter.
This year, China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) has launched ―Beautiful China – 2014 Year of Smart Travel‖ as their tourism
motto, which aims to further enhance China tourism with the aid of our times latest development. That is why they’re organizing a lot of
tourism conference, just like the latest one in Beijing, and developing their airports and processes to boost all areas of their tourism industry.
You’ll all find these under our China Tourism Digest topics.
China Panorama have the same undertaking ever since, that’s why continue to strive and make new ways to do our fair share for the
development of China travel. On our What’s On this edition, we have laid in you all the results of our efforts in promoting China tourism in
the Philippines by joining necessary travel fairs, just like in Rockwell, and also in the upcoming Travel and Tour Expo, and our forthcoming
product update in Cebu and Davao.
We have also been introducing distinct places in China other than what most Filipinos have known, just like our EC5D Mt. Wuyi, Xiamen
or with Jinmen itinerary, which we believe will also be great help in promoting China tourism. More places will be introduced on our
following editions but meanwhile, please go on and enjoy what we have prepared for you in this edition.
