Vocabulary Activity: Week 4

Latin Roots:multi-, port-, rupt-, scrip-/scribe-Vocabulary Activity: Week 4

Roots and Definitions:multi-: manyport-: to carryrupt-: to breakscrib-/scribe-: to writeExtension Activity:Using a dictionary, find and list one word for each of the four roots. IMPORTANT: As youre looking for words, think about the idea of taking the old pen and paper approach to education into the new age of digital technology to guide your word selections.

Include each words definition and an explanation of how the roots meaning plays a role in the words definition. Understanding Word Parts and Navigating a Dictionary

Choose four words that use the roots (one for each root) and write a two-paragraph story that uses those words in four separate context clue sentences. You need to develop a basic plot.

IMPORTANT: Keep the general theme of old-school educational methods versus modern methods in mind as you create your plot. You need to CONNECT your context clue sentences to each other. Think about what your purpose could be when you choose your words, so everything flows together as a narrative.

Underline the words and the context clues you use in your short narrative. Extension Activity:Context Clues Communicate Meaning in Short StoriesChoose three to five words for each root from this weeks instructional slides to incorporate into a Wordle presentation.
