The Floratech Division’s newest entry in floral mer-chandising is a unique L-shaped cooler featuring two sides of refrigerated sections, plus a spacious dry section. This large capacity cooler is perfect for wrap-around endcap layouts, with the two sides allowing more shoppers simultaneous ac-cess to choose their flowers.

A winning feature for floral department managers is the scalloped shelving in the upper rows of the refrig-erated sections. Wine Guardian

Air Innovations enters retail market with Wine GuardianCommercial-grade wine cel-lar cooling units have been rolling off AI’s production lines since 1998, marketed under the name CellarMate and sold mostly to spe-cialty contractors. AI is now launching a redesigned line to be marketed direct to con-sumers and the restaurant/food service industry, with the name Wine Guardian. These self-contained, pack-aged coolers for professional wine cellars and storage facilities are AI’s first ven-ture into marketing direct to consumers. According to President Mike Wetzel, “the Wine Guardian has been engineered to be installa-tion-friendly, and combines the best technology with the most versatile unit in the wine cellar market today.” Wine Guardian is avail-able with many options to fit the needs of the cellar, and comes in four sizes and capacities. A 24/7 hotline is

maintained to provide information and assistance. Recommendations for designing and building wine cellars and storage facilities are offered. Currently, Wine Guardian is available through its web-site www.wineguardian.com. An advertising campaign in upscale wine journals is in the works.

Employee of the yearMary Carr, Accounting Associate, was named Air Innovation’s 2004 Employee of the Year. She joined the original Floratech com-pany in 1998, and now is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions of all AI divisions. According to Controller Deborah Emery, her supervisor, “Mary is excellent at detail, a consci-entious person, and always meets deadlines.” Previously honored employees are Rick Couse, Traffic Manager, 2002, and Debbie Pelow, Account Manager, 2003.

Todd Reardon’s background as an HVAC-certified repair technician prompted him to apply for the position of Service Manager. “While I enjoyed the challenge of working on the sophisticated AdvancAir units, I missed diagnosing and fix-ing problems.” Todd is now the voice people reach when they call in with equipment problems. “Eighty percent of the time I can

usually figure out what’s wrong over the phone,” he says. Fixing the problem is often times as easy as proper cleaning of the unit, replac-ing a fuse, or explaining an operational issue. Air Inno-vations contracts with sev-eral North American repair services that can quickly and efficiently respond to customers on site. Service is offered 24/7. any CLESTRA or Cleanroom Technology AdvancAir units. These include vertical/horizontal cube style, and older cabinet models. Upgrading and replac-ing should be considered to reduce costly maintenance or downtime on older mod-els, and increase reliability of the equipment. Often controls are outdated, and should be replaced. Major features found in newer models include direct drive fans, improved controls, scroll compressors, easier access to the cabinet in the vertical models and easier maintenance.
