Upon leaving school at 14, he was awarded a 7-year apprenticeship as a shoemaker, at the end of which he moved to Sproxton, Leics to take up employment at the village school. William married Emma Sophia HENSON at Melton Mowbray, Leics in 1864. They took jobs as schoolmaster and schoolmistress at Great Horkesley, Essex followed by similar posts at Tingrith, Beds before moving to Charwelton School in the mid-1890s although Emma worked for a while at Daventry. William and his wife came to Preston Capes upon his retirement in 1906. He died on 12 Mar 1935 at the age of 94 and was buried in the churchyard on 15 Mar. Children:

    CARPENTER, Emma 1835-1923 The natural daughter of Elizabeth CARPENTER and William DUNKLEY of Gayton, Emma was baptised at Preston Capes on 20 Aug 1835. She moved to Drayton near Daventry upon her mother's marriage to Thomas LIDDINGTON, adopting his surname, upon leaving school worked as a shoebinder. Emma married James CLARKE, a shoemaker, in 1858 and moved to Northampton. After her husband died in 1895, Emma took on work as a nurse. In her later years, she lived with her sister-in-law Maria and her husband. Emma died in Northampton in 1923 at the age of 87. Children:

He was awarded an apprenticeship as a mason for George GOLBY at Chipping Warden after which he married Elizabeth LINES at the parish church there in 1843. They moved to Culworth where Charles worked as a jobbing bricklayer and was lodging at Tingewick, Bucks in the 1881 census. He died at Culworth in 1888 at the age of 68. Children:

Over the weekend of the 6th June 1841 (census), Francis and his brother John stayed at the Daventry Union Workhouse while his parents and sisters visited his uncle Samuel at Brinklow, Warks. Under the terms of the Butler Apprenticeship Scheme, he was apprenticed as a shoemaker to John BRAMBLY of Daventry on 25 Jul 1847 for the sum of 20 until he was 21. Francis married Catherine FROST at Daventry on 25 Dec 1865. She died in 1870 and Francis married Mary Ann TARRY at Daventry in 1871 when they moved to Northampton where he worked as a shoe riveter. Francis died in 1885 at the age of 52. Children:
