Major tasks • Laser systems• Mechanical systems• Diagnostics/Instrumentation

– Optical BPM– Mask in front of entrance viewport– Photodiode amplifier for digital readback and comparator for PriTel Permit

• Have circuits from Optical Engines and source for pigtailed photodiodes

– DAQ • Software/timing• Safety

– Preliminary Safety module and preliminary requirements for interlocks– Have communicated concepts but need sign off by LSO – LOTO procedures

• Operational issues – What happens with power glitches– Operational status (how to easily tell the heath of the system) – operational

diagnostics– Operational procedures (startup/shutdown)

Laser Systems• OPG/Expansion

– Install frequency multiplier components in hand waiting for p.s– Install DAQ (on order)

• PriTel– We’ve been having issues with the pre-amp pump dying or being killed. – This has to be stable output to move on to OE commissioning.– We are trying to address this on multiple fronts

• Provide a very stable uniform pulse pattern• Install optical band pass filters between pump and coupler• Install comparators on PtiTel input to remove pump permit if input is outside range • Going to company tomorrow

• Optical Engines– Determine how to mount – this will determine layout of optics board– When PriTel has stable output – start re-commissioning

• Grumman– Install controller & ps in rack– Make power connections between – Connect to control system (need cables)– Fabricate mounts for modules

Mechanical• Relay rack

– Orientation in tunnel– Layout

• Installation of components

– Powering/UPS• How many sockets do we need? Power requirements? What goes on UPS.

– Installed in MEBT with electronics facing ion source– Do we need additional support for optics box– Need to mount USB hub– Need to mount PS bricks– Need to order and mount power strip – UPS – want a UPS to be able to gracefully power down system (particularly computer, OPG, expansion chassis)

• Optics box– Layout /design– Do we use dry nitrogen for interlock– How do we support?– Optical box alignment (need fiducials – Layout dependent on mounting of Optical Engines amplifier

• Optical cavity– Mach2 enhanced design complete

• Manufacturing prints (under review)• Interior non reflective surface (sand blast or coating)

– Removal for inspection

• Transport design– Where do we put the second steering mirrors (how close to the view port)– Simulations

• Transport enclosure– Detailed design – depends on where the second steering mirrors are

Laser Cart Orientation and Optical Engines Amplifier mounting

• The orientation and position of the laser cart and the mounting of the OE Amp will determine the layout of the free space amplifier, beam shaping and transport optics

• Constrained by:– the separation between tank 1 and the beam path into the optical cavity

(~26-28”)– The separation between MEBT and sliding doors is only about 30 inches.

ES&H currently requires these doors to remain closed (and locked)

• Two orientations for cart installation– Perpendicular to beam line

• Orientation used for Demo Experiment• Keyboard sticking through doorway

– Doors only open partially (may be a problem if we have to move cart upstream)• Controls facing stairway • Back of rack and cables captured between rack and beam line• Optics box mounted perpendicular to front of rack

Move mirrors outside by 150 mm

From Matt: Change both mirrors by same amount -14.2 mm movement on viewport per degree Maximum angular range before clipping 0.13 degrees (-0.06 to 0.07) Maximum position range 1.851 mm (+0.855 to -0.996)
