against SSIs.

Despite advances in surgical asepsis, surgical site infection (SSI) remains a challenging and costly problem. Annually, there are up to 300,000 SSIs at a cost between $3.5 and $10 billion.1

Optimal pre-operative patient skin prep “reduces contamination at the incisional site and may reduce the risk of SSIs.”2,3

But it’s the application part that can be the issue.

Inconsistent application by healthcare professionalsProtocols and applications differ significantly from clinician to clinician.4

Microorganism killing efficacyA variety of prep solutions are used in pre-op that vary greatly in killing efficacy.5

Complications prepping high-risk patientsEnsuring the prep solution provides optimal coverage of the surgical site for diabetes and obese patients who are at higher risk of SSIs.6

What issues do clinicians face when prepping?

Fighting SSIs: Uncovering the issues with pre-op prepping.

Each cloth contains 500 mg of CHG to help reduce bacteria that can cause SSIs.

Reduces microorganisms on the skin for up to 6 hours after application.**

ReadyPrep CHG cloths have a 94.5" surface area, and measure 9" x 10.5".

Against a broad spectrum of microorganisms. Kills Staphylococcus aureus and other SSI-causing bacteria.***

ReadyPrep CHG cloths can help you overcome the challenges of pre-operative skin preparation to deliver an antiseptic agent consistently, safely and effectively. Here’s how:

KILLING EFFICACYCONSISTENT APPLICATION

How CHG works: Chlorhexidine is a broad spectrum antiseptic that is effective against microorganisms such as gram positive bacteria, gram negative bacteria and fungi. CHG kills a wider range of microorganisms than other antiseptics by disrupting the cell membrane, which is a feature common in most microorganisms.7

ReadyPrep CHG is manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest quality control systems that meet the standards of the pharmaceutical industry and FDA. Distinctive features make ReadyPrep CHG the new choice for pre-op skin antiseptic solutions.

Effective CHG releaseSingle fiber technology in the 100% polyester cloth effectively and consistently releases CHG on skin.

Long shelf lifeTwo-year shelf life can help you reduce waste and save money.

Moisture-retaining packagingCutting-edge film barrier with a low moisture vapor transition rate (MVTR) helps keep our cloths moist and viable for long periods of time.

“ Reducing bacterial flora on the skin pre-operatively by using pre-operative cleansing CHG is a simple, effective means to reduce the risk of SSIs for patients, and available literature suggests that it is safe as well.”

The following microorganisms have also proven to show no evidence of resistance to the ReadyPrep CHG solution.

» Acinetobacter baumannii » Burkholderia cepacia » Enterococcus faecalis » Escherichia coli » Pseudomonas aeruginosa » Serratia marcescens » Staphylococcus aureus** » Staphylococcus epidermidis

*In vitro data on file.**Staphylococcus aureus has been consistently shown as the leading cause of SSIs. Tong, Y.C., Steven, Davis, S. Joshua, et al.
