This step-by-step approach ensures that all of the important literacy skills are systematically developed through the series.

The Readers provide a large amount of support material suitable for individual teachers’ preferred method of teaching (for example, group or class teaching).

The books have a strong emphasis on phonics, but also incorporate: phonic decoding, sight word recognition, use of context and picture clues, prediction and drawing on previous experience, to ensure that students have all the decoding and comprehension skills they need to become fluent readers.

Practice and reinforce the required reading strategies. The Workbook activities can be used to introduce skills required to read the text; or they can be used for reinforcement after reading.

Provide clear guidance on how the books can be used at home to support parents in reading to their child.

When used in conjunction with the teaching notes, the Language Tree Reading Scheme will equip teachers with the material and strategies they need to effectively teach children to read.

Flashcards to help phonics teaching and worksheets which reuse the vocabulary introduced in the Readers will soon be available.
