Writing
In Pre Primary we focus on drawing and attempting to give writing a go. This may look like strings
of letters, scribble, or one letter to represent a whole word. Allow your child the opportunity to
‘have a go’, as we are all writers. When they have finished writing, please ask your child what their
writing says, and get them to read it back to you. There is space provided below each area for
you to scribe exactly what your child tells you they have written.
The table below is a suggested daily activity for your child to do writing. Their writing will be
based around fairy tales, and there is a link for you to click on to show them on You Tube if you
don’t have a hard copy of these books at home.
Fine Motor Skills are an important part of writing, to help your child give them time to practise
these skills;
Practising cutting skills
Practising holding pencils and crayons
Playdough
Gluing
Weaving
Week 1’s writing will be based around Little Red Riding Hood—The story can be found here;

Ask your child what they did on the weekend. The sentence format we use is;
“On the weekend I went______”. It is important to make sure that your child can say the
