Principal’s Report
Parking Around the School – please obey road signage
Parking around the school continues to be an issue that the school is tackling. The safety of our
community is of highest priority and the school encourages all of our parents and family members to
consider everyone’s safety over convenience. We thank all the community members who have
improved their practice over the last few weeks.
Vehicles in the School Carpark
I would like to remind all parents, grandparents or other family members that when dropping off and
picking up students, please do not drive your vehicle into the staff carpark, at any time of the day.
The Department of Education, in light of the events at Banksia Rd PS last November, have issued a
Safety Alert to all principals to review all access by vehicles onto school grounds.
Our school will be sent STEM Kits in some of the following areas: Robotics, VR/AR, Film Making, 3D
Printing and Coding. Mrs Lee and Mrs Silipo will work with classroom teachers to trial the kits, teach
the lessons that have been written by the DoE and directly relate to the syllabus documents and
provide the DoE with feedback on the usefulness of the resources before it gets launched across the
state.
Our staff are very excited to have this opportunity and access to STEM resources and we know the
students will enjoy the opportunity to trial many new products being released by the Department
over the next year.

levels during class time, at recess and lunch as well as during

Zone Cross Country
Last Thursday we had some very excited children attending the Zone Cross Country Carnival which
was held at Artarmon Reserve. We were very lucky with the weather as it rained the day
before. It was quite chilly, but the sun was out and it wasn’t too damp underfoot. Everyone ran so
well, and all the children should be proud of their efforts. Jack T. was the only one who made it
through to the next round. We wish Jack the very best of luck for the Area Carnival. Many thanks
must go to all our lovely parents who helped supervise our team, with special mention to Susan
(Amy’s mum) who was our parent Team Manager. She did a fantastic job making sure all our
wonderful runners got to their race on time.

Children’s Voices for reconciliation
Last Thursday, May 31, the Year 3/4 Primary Proms choir was part of the Children's Voices for
Reconciliation Concert in the Lane Cove Village Plaza. They sang a beautiful version of 'Brolga
Dance' which is a song about a man who enjoys escaping the city to see the beautiful birds on the
land.
The children represented our school beautifully, wearing their uniform RESPECTFULLY. They also
behaved very RESPONSIBLY walking to the plaza by stopping to allow members of the public to
walk past us. They also showed a definite sense of ENDEAVOUR when they sang in such a
committed manner.
Both teachers were very proud to accompany the Primary Proms choir to the concert and are
looking forward to their next performance.
Well done choir! You made your teachers and school very proud!

Stem News
All teachers recently attended professional development at school run by Mrs Lee and Mrs Silipo,
looking at ways to integrate coding, robotics and new technologies into learning. One of the best
ways to learn is through hands-on experiences, so our teachers had lots of hard fun as they
explored block coding, robotics such as Blue-Bots, Ozobots, Pro-Bots and EV3s, as well as Minecraft
Education Edition and green screens.
We are also pleased to announce that Lane Cove West has been successful in applying for a
National Science Week grant , which will be used to purchase resources for our Rube Goldberg Day
in Term 3.
