Having won the Malaysian Property Awards FIABCI Award 2005 for the Master Plan Development category, FIABCI
PRIX D’Excellence 2005 finalist for Leisure Bale Clubhouse and PAM Architectural Steel Awards for the Canal Park pavilion
in 2005, this multi-award winning Leisure Farm Resort has further added another attraction to its double-gated residential
development.
Forming part of the body centre linking to the overall master plan concept of the ‘mind, body and soul’, the Orchard at
Leisure Farm Resort is designed with organised walk paths, bridges and horse-riding trails. It is the initial phase of the 380
acres of the Kayu Manis Orchard and Nursery, within the 1,765 acres of green spaces planned and preserved for residents’
recreational usage.

Situated at the southern fringe of
the Canal Park, adjacent to the man-
grove reserve and the Bale Equestrian
and Country Club, the 22-acre Orchard
allows the residents to appreciate the
variety of tropical fruits, herbs, spices
and local vegetables in an organic and
arboretum environment. Residents are
also encouraged to use the Orchard by
allowing them to lease vegetable plots
from Leisure Farm with a nominal
maintenance fee.
Offering a different perspective of
the all-so familiar fruits and vegetables
available at local marts, the opportu-
nity to see how they develop and ripen
on vines and branches first-hand is notonly a rare treat these days but also an
educational experience for the future
generation. The Orchard reminds us all
of the many miracles of nature that we
often take for granted.
Apart from fruit trees, the high-
lights also include a variety of herbs
and spices, foreign fruits, existing
trees, mangrove vegetation, bird spe-
cies and the natural river and lakes.
Hillside rice paddy terraces similar to
that cultivated by forest dwelling na-
tives in Bali can also be found in the
Orchard’s fertile ground. It serves as
a cascading forum for outdoor per-
formances under the shaded forest
canopies overlooking the backdrop of
the east and west lakes, completed
with a boat dock cum performance
deck floating in the middle of
the lakes.
The authentic countryside settingoffers relaxation and recreation amidst
the backdrop of a paddy terrace am-
phitheatre, Dillenia forest boardwalk,
camping grounds within the orchard,
a natural lotus pond, a steel bridge

and floating platforms over the calm
water of the lakes. The horse-riding
and walking trails meander around the
existing preserved forest vegetation
and an entry arbour provides cool re-
lief from the afternoon heat. All these
facilities are connected by a network
of footpaths and timber boardwalks
that will eventually link to the future
Phase 2 Canal and Mangrove Parks,
which are part of the overall master
plan of Leisure Farm.
The Orchard is a far cry from the
hustle and bustle of the city. Accessible
by cars with ample parking provided
for the convenience of the visitors, it
is alive with new developments from
day-to-day.
