Island Archipelago A piece of land
completely surround by water.
Group of islands
Beach or Coast The sandy or rocky land at
the edge of an ocean, sea, or lake.
Dune This is what is called a
ridge of sand piled up by the wind.
Peninsula
A stretch of land surrounded on three sides by water.
Fjords
A narrow waterway connecting two larger bodies of water.
Isthmus
A narrow strip of land (bridge) than connects to pieces of land.
Swamp Marsh A type of freshwater wetland A type of freshwater, brackish water
or saltwater wetland
Canyon A long narrow valley with
high steep sides.
Mesa A broad, flat-topped
elevation with one or more cliff-like sides.
Plateau – largest
Butte - smallest
Plain
Area of level or rolling land.
Mountains This is the highest
landform above sea level. Mountain Range – a
stream of mountains Valley Hill – small rise in
elevation
