Lana Del Rey - Ride I like the video "Ride" because Lana Del Rey is one of my favourite artists and she expresses her emotion into her videos, depending on what the subject of the song. Her lyrics are written from her experiences, including people who she loved and lost. This makes the audience relate to her songs in some way. This is because she can put her emotion into the lyrics and video which is what I find most interesting. The video is interesting as she likes to create a story and this video relates to the lyrics of the song. The message of the song is that the woman (Lana) wants to be completely free and seeking out to strangers to the freedom of life. She needs the comfort of other strangers to make her feel like home. The video itself mainly focuses on her and her lovers each individually spending time together on their own. Then at the end she is seen with many people, enjoying her life. The whole video links to the lyrics and it clearly expresses her need for true freedom which is being shown through her and her lovers’ actions. "I've been out on that open road" is the first line of the song, explaining her need for escaping from life and not needing to care. Because of her need to run away, she finds herself being comfortable with strangers as they don't judge her. For that reason she says "you can be my full time, daddy". The video includes men being criminals and they are usually referred to as "daddy". There is another message which is quite personal to her. She talks about her past relationships and it shows that she has suffered from them. This is because she says "Don't break me down", "Don't leave me now, don't say goodbye" and "I'm alone in the night". These show her being vulnerable and she wants to make and live her life right, by trying over again to change her life. The last verse shows her reason for running away as she's alone and want someone to love. "I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy" shows how many people around her tell her that what she is doing is wrong and her thoughts are making it difficult to live a normal life. This goes back to her seeking comfort to strangers and calling them "daddy". "I drive fast. I just ride. Just ride. I just ride. I just ride" is in the hook of the song because the pain and wanting true freedom is a repetitive feeling for her. But this is could be the same for many people which could be the reason why they understand the message behind her song. They understand this because her video

The whole video links to the lyrics and it clearly expresses her

need for true freedom which is being shown through her and her lovers’ actions. "I've been out on that open road" is the first line of the song, explaining her need for escaping from life and not needing to care. Because of her need to run away, she finds herself being comfortable with strangers as they don't judge her. For that reason she says "you can be my full time, daddy". The video includes men

being criminals and they are usually referred to as "daddy". There is another message which is quite personal to her. She talks about her past relationships and it shows that she has suffered from them. This is because she says "Don't break me down", "Don't leave me now, don't say goodbye" and "I'm alone in the night". These show her being vulnerable and she wants to make and

live her life right, by trying over again to change her life. The last verse shows her reason for running away as she's alone and want someone to love. "I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy" shows how many people around her tell her that what she is doing is wrong and her thoughts are making it difficult to live a normal life. This goes back to her seeking comfort to

strangers and calling them "daddy". "I drive fast. I just ride. Just ride. I just ride. I just ride" is in the hook of the song because the pain and wanting true freedom is a repetitive feeling for her. But this is could be the same for many people which could be the reason why they understand the message behind her song. They understand this because her video

links to the lyrics and could remind them of memories and experiences they have had. Lana del Rey is one of my favourite artists and her song "Ride" and others are songs I enjoy listening to because she writes about her own experiences which

can be understood by others and she uses emotion to sing in a unique way.
