This is to notify for information of all concerned that the ExecutiveCouncil in its Meeting held on 10.03.2017 vide its Resolution No.EC-2017(1):18 has approved the amendment in Para 2.0 of Ordinance 6 [Academic]captioned "Reservation of Seats and Other Special Provisions for Admission"pertaining to 5% Reservation in seats for PwD category candidates in the light ofprovisions under Section 32 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The amended Ordinance 6 [Academic] as approved would now be read asshown in the Annexure.

ORDINANCE 6 (VI) [Academic]

RESERVATION OF SEATS AND OTHER SPECIAL PROVISIONS FORADMISSION

Existing Ordinance Amended

2.0. Persons with Disabilities

3% seats in all programmes in the lamiaMillia Islamia shall be reserved for thephysically challenged persons inaccordance with the provisions of thePersons with Disabilities (EqualOpportunities, Protection of Rights andFull Participation) Act, 1995 under thefollowing categories {to the extent of 1%each, and interchangeable intra in case ofnon availability of eligible Applicants}:

Blindness/low vision;Hearing impairment;Locomotor disability or cerebralpalsy.

2.0. Persons with Disabilities

5% seats in all programmes in the lamiaMillia Islamia shall be reserved for thephysically challenged persons inaccordance with the provisions of TheRights of Persons with Disabilities Act,2016 under the following categories {tothe extent of 1% each, andinterchangeable intra in case of nonavailability of eligible Applicants}:

i) Blindness and low vision;ii) Deaf and hard of hearing;iii) Locomotor disability including

cerebral palsy, leprosy cured,dwarfism, acid attack victims andmuscular dystrophy;

iv) Autism, intellectual disability,specific learning disability andmental illness;

v) Multiple disabilities fromamongst persons under clauses (i)to (iv) including deaf-blindness.

The persons with benchmark disabilitiesshall be given an upper age relaxation offive years for admission in highereducation courses.

Candidates under this category will begiven relaxation to the extent of 5%marks in the qualifying examination.

Unless and otherwise provided, onlysuch candidates shall be consideredunder this category who are sufferingfrom not less than 40% of disability ascertified by a competent medicalauthority.

Provided that in the Faculty of Dentistry,3% seats of the annual sanctioned intakecapacity shall be filled by candidateswith locomotory disability of lowerlimbs between 50% to 70% will beconsidered. In case of unavailability ofsuch candidates, unfilled seats in this 3%quota shall be filled up by persons withlocomotory disability of lower limbsbetween 40% to 50% before they areincluded in the annual sanctioned seatsfor General Category candidates as perthe DCI Gazette notification.

It is clarified that the maximumprescribed period for passing theexamination of a course shall beextended by two years for candidates inthis category. However, in exceptionalcases, the Shaikhul lamia (Vice-Chancellor) may further extend the saidperiod by one more year.
