Kate has settled in well to the Lakeside way of life, injecting some youthful energy to the team and being a huge hitwith the students in Class 2. Thank you also to Jody and Sharron for their professional guidance during Kates time at Lakeside. We wish Kate all the best in her teaching career and with a bit of luck see her return to Lakeside as a qualified teacher. It was good to hear that many of our students had a great time at the Australian Reptile Park last Monday. We have an exciting start to Term 4 with a crew from Hunter Permaculture attending our school on Saturday 19 th October. They will be here to have a Garden Blitz, repairing some areas, planting more vegetables and fruit trees and designing some more sensory areas for our students. I would like to invite all parents, family, friends and carers to join us on the day. We will be providing a sausage sizzle and cold drinks, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you have some gardening tools, such as shovels, picks etc., could you please bring them along. Unfortunately, due to the tools which will be used, no students/children can attend on this day. Please phone the school if you are able to help on Saturday 19th October. As the weather warms up, we hope you all enjoy getting outdoors and enjoying what our great local area has to offer. It has been our pleasure to have Kate from the University of Newcastle attend Lakeside over the past 5 weeks to complete her final practicum. Kate has settled in well to the Lakeside ‘way of life,’ injecting some youthful energy to the team and being a huge ‘hit’ with the students in Class 2. Thank you also to Jody and Sharron for their professional guidance during Kate’s time at Lakeside. We wish Kate all the best in her teaching career and with a bit of luck see her return to Lakeside as a qualified teacher.

It was good to hear that many of our students had a great time at the Australian Reptile Park last Monday. They all enjoyed a leisurely walk around the park, encountering many animals such as snakes, koalas, lizards and crocodiles just to mention a few. The kids especially enjoyed the crocodile show and could have stayed there all day.

Tomorrow our girls will get to enjoy the ‘Girls Big Day Out.’ The day will commence back at school with a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ where students will enjoy some flavoured milks and cupcakes. From there they will be attending the musical, Time After Time. The school performance is being hosted by the students of Wiripaang Public School, showcasing a variety of music and costumes through time. Thank you to the staff and students of Wiripaang for inviting us to your matinee performance, we cannot wait!

We have an exciting start to Term 4 with a crew from Hunter Permaculture attending our school on Saturday 19th October.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday.

This term Class 6 have been excelling in our famed cooking program. With the guiding hand of Master Chefs Maree, Kaz, Peggy and Sous Chef Mr Sam the boys have been whipping up a smorgasbord of sumptuous dishes. Some of these include a variety of homemade pies, pizzas, pasta and even French Classic ~ Croc Monsieur to finish the term. Well done to our gastronomical geniuses, Davey, Cameron, Tyrese, Lynton and Cameron.

Please collect just milk, long life milk, water and

soft-drink bottles lids, drop them in the collection bin in

our Office foyer or send them into school with your child .

We ask that you wash all tops before sending them in and that

no Pop top or jar lids are included.

Where do your lids go? To make aids with 3D printers, which are

then donated to children in need .

Transition/Service Provider visits

Our school’s Year 11 and Year 12 students and their parents/carers have visited a number of Post-School facilities in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas. These visits began in Term 3 and will conclude in week 3 of Term 4. The students were all extremely well be-haved and it was a privilege to have accompanied them as representatives of the school. I would like to thank the parents who were able to join us at the venues and engage with the providers to gain as much knowledge as possible to make an informed decision about their child’s post-school options. Their engagement and questions meant that there was a free flow of information. I appreciate and respect the effort that it takes to make yourself available for these visits. I look forward to offering a similar set of opportunities for our senior students and their parents/carers in 2020.
