AAU Partnership:

Lakeshore Volleyfest Super Regional is sanctioned by AAU Volleyball nationally and Michigan Junior Volleyball Association locally. The first place team in each Division will receive a free entry to the AAU National Championships in Orlando, Florida on June 16th- June 28th. In addition the 2nd place team in the Open Divisions only will receive a credit for up to 50% refund of the AAU National entry fee. In the event that the first place team in the Open Division has already earned a free entry they may instead receive the 50% refund and the free entry would then go to the 2nd place team. Free entry may not be passed to another team in your club. It must be used by the team earning the free entry. *In the event of a tie for a free entry or refund an additional playoff match may be needed. If this happens it will be a single set to 25. Breakdown of Free Entries:

1. Open Divisions - 1st Place Free Entry, 2nd Place ½ Entry Fee 2. Premier Divisions - 1st Place Free Entry 3. Club Divisions – 1st Place Free Entry 4. Classic Divisions – 1st Place Free Entry

Facility/Food Rules:

1. The safety of every player and spectator is a high priority and steps by our security personnel to ensure this safety will be taken. We ask that all parents/spectators limit the bags you are carrying in to a small personal size bag. Be aware that if anything looks suspicious or fairly large you will be subject to searches by our security team. Anyone refusing a search will not be admitted into the facility.

2. In an effort to cut down on janitorial costs at many of the facilities and to limit the amount of waste from excessive amounts of food being brought to tournaments we have adopted the following food rules: Keep in mind this is a volleyball tournament- NOT A POT LUCK.

a. No Team Tables (You may not bring in your own table). b. No Coolers c. Players may bring food for themselves within their duffle bag. Water/Sports Drinks are permitted

to be brought into the facility in their bag. d. There will not be a room at DeVos Place for team tables. e. There will be a greater variety of food selections at DeVos Place plus we are working with local

restaurants to provide easy and quick lunch options. f. Tailgating is permitted at most sites but be sure to clean up after you are finished. g. No food or beverage of any kind (other than water) is allowed in the playing areas. h. No smoking or animals in any facility.

3. Teams are expected to provide their own balls for warm-ups. Ball handling is to be done only on the playing courts or practice gym. No pepper in the hallways.

4. Clean up your team’s bench area when you leave. Please respect these facilities so we may continue to use them in the future.

5. Admission-

- All facilities - $10 for everyone except: o Senior citizens/High School Students: $5 o Ages 5 & under are free.

- This is a per day admission fee.

Registration:

1. Creating an Official AAU Roster.

A. Go to AAUsports.org B. On the top tabs choose Sports, and then Indoor Volleyball from the drop down menu. C. Click on the link titled “Create Your Team Roster” on the right hand side of the page. D. Click on “Local Tournament Roster” E. Sign in. If you have an account, enter your user id and password on the right hand side. If you

are a first time user, click on create an account and enter the necessary information. You will receive an activation email with a link to activate your account.

F. In the Coaches View you will see a link for “Add New Team” on the left hand side. G. Enter the necessary team information, click the box to agree to the statement, click “Save

Team”. H. Click on the team you just created. You will see links to “Add New Athlete” and “Add New

Coach”. These will pull up all the athletes and coaches who have registered with your club code.

I. After you have added all the athletes and coaches, click on their names to update their information with the required fields.

J. You will see a tab on top for “Print Your Team Roster”. These can be saved as .pdf files.

- When emailing the team roster to us please save the roster as the team appears on AES. Also, if sending more than one roster please put them all into one folder and then save it as a zip-file. That way you can send them all at once rather than one roster at a time. Please DO NOT have each individual coach send their roster. All team rosters from a club should be sent from the club director. Rosters are due by Monday, April 23. Email rosters to: [email protected]

2. A club or team representative is responsible to pick up tournament information at their playing site

prior to their first match and to verify or turn in AAU rosters. A copy of the correct roster must be turned in and signed prior to playing. The only acceptable rosters are the official roster from the AAU National Website or a verified AAU roster in AES. You must notify us if you are selecting the AES verified option so that we can pull the roster. No hand written or typed rosters accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO ROSTER= NO PLAY! Teams playing at DeVos may begin checking in Friday afternoon from 4:00-8:00pm or after 7:00 am Saturday. All teams must check in at the location at which they are playing. Off sites will begin check-in on Saturday at 7am.

We would also encourage all teams to have their team’s roster completed and accurate on AES. That way it is much easier for parents/grandparents/friends to locate where they are actually playing. We also produce a recruiting packet through AES that is available to college coaches.

Match and Forfeit Times: Matches will begin 10 minutes from the conclusion of the preceding match. Warm-ups may not begin more than 25 minutes ahead of the scheduled match time unless agreed upon by both teams. Wave start times will not be moved up. Subsequent rounds and bracket play matches will be moved up whenever time allows. At the start time, if teams are not ready to play, the opposing team will be awarded one point per minute. After ten minutes, the first game will then be forfeited. The second game and match will also be forfeited after an additional 10 minutes.

Work Team Assignments: 1. First official will be provided for all matches. Each team is responsible to provide: 1 down official, 2

lines people, 1 official scorekeeper, a libero tracker and 2 persons for flip score (2 on each court). You are responsible for your own whistles.

2. If you are late for your officiating assignment, the same penalties apply as to match and forfeit times. All penalties will be carried over to the following day if necessary. Maximum penalty would be the loss of the first set of your subsequent match. Please check closely to be sure you know the schedule. If you are uncertain please ask the tournament director at your site. On time means the start of warm-ups, not match start time.

3. It is required that a coach or other adult team representative remains in the game area during team

officiating assignments. No food or drink will be allowed on the work table.

4. No cell phones or electronic devices allowed at the work table. If a player(s) is found to be using a cell phone while working at the table the official or tournament director may sanction that team up to a 10 point penalty which would be applied to that team’s next match.

5. During bracket play all losing teams must stay and provide the work team for the following match

unless specified differently. The game scheduled on your court may or may not be part of your division. If your match is switched to another court you are still required to provide the work team. Teams not completing their last work assignment of the tournament will be fined $100.

Format: Match play – best 2 out of 3 games. First 2 games to 25; deciding game if necessary to 15. No cap on

any game. A few divisions may utilize 3 out of 5 matches or 3 sets to 25.

All teams advance to a playoff bracket on Sunday. You are scheduled for a minimum of two matches on Sunday. In the event of a tie for teams accepting the free or partial entry to AAU Nationals an extra playoff match may be needed to decide who receives the entry.

Warm-ups (2-4-4) – 2 minutes shared ball handling, 4 minutes each team hitting and serving. Absolutely no ball handling by the team that is off. Off teams are required to help shag for the team that is hitting. Teams refusing to do this will be given a red card prior to the start of the match.

Coin flip prior to match will determine side and serve.

Tie breaking Procedures A. Two way ties - Head to head pool results will always determine the winner.

B. Three way ties - There will be a one set playoff to 15 points only if it effects the team’s advancement

into the Gold Bracket Open, Premier, and Club Divisions. Third team is required to be the work team. If it does not effect advancement into Gold in the Open, Premier, and Club Divisions, the results will be determined as follows:

- Set winning percentage (if still tied)

- Point percentage within pool play

- Coin Flip

C. Three Way Ties with Two teams advancing to Gold

- The seeding for the tiebreaker will be determined by the same criteria as above. The team with the highest set winning percentage will be awarded first place in that pool. The remaining two teams will have a one set to 15 pt. playoff. The winner will be awarded 2nd place in that pool. The first place (bye) team must be the work team for that match.

D. Three way Ties with One team advancing to Gold

- The seeding for the tiebreaker will be determined by the same criteria as above. There will be two playoff sets to 15 pts to decide the results of the pool. Teams will be seeded 1st, 2nd and 3rd with the 2nd and 3rd seeded teams playing the first set. The 1st seeded team will be the work crew. The winner of that set will play the 1st seeded team in a set to 15 pts with the loser of the previous set being the work team. The winner of the second playoff match will advance.

E. It is the responsibility of the team’s coach to know if there is a potential ties in pool play. Teams must be present at courtside for the tie breaker sets. They will begin as soon as the last match in that pool is completed. If any team is not present and prepared to play or be the work crew then that team will forfeit the match or their potential standing. We will not delay the start of a tiebreaker set to locate a team or any of its players. Not being courtside will results in a forfeit. If a team is not present to play or ref the play-off match they will automatically drop to last among the teams participating in the play-off.

General Rules: 1. Only AAU registered members are allowed on the court. 2. Registered coach must be on the bench. A team without an AAU registered coach is considered

incomplete and may not play. 3. Any abuse of tournament officials or staff by players, coaches or parents will result in that person’s

removal from the tournament. 4. Chairs that are provided for team benches may not be moved or taken to another area. Leave them

alone.

Tournament Play Schedule:

The entire tournament playing schedule will be posted on www.advancedeventsystems.com and will be updated every hour throughout the day.

Protest Procedure: If a protest is to be filed, it must be done at the time of the incident. Only the floor captain may file the protest (or coach in 14’s and below). Once the protest is reviewed by the Head of Officials, his ruling is final. Judgment calls may not be protested.
