SUMMER CONCERT SERIES COMES TO KATYLaCenterra at Cinco Ranch kicks-off Summer Sound concert series.

Held in Heritage Square at LaCenterra from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, come enjoy for live music and lots of fun (for folks of all ages). Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs or a blanket.

Potbelly serves its reggae with a little rock n’ roll on the side June 7. Potbelly is a four-piece alternative/reggae/rock band from Houston.

The Zydeco Dots plan to move you with a Gulf Coast groove June 14. Since forming locally in 1987, the Zydeco Dots has been cookin’ up the area’s best representation of this high energy descendent of traditional Creole folk music and serving it to new audiences across Gulf Coast.

La La Wilson & Company trace the roots of Houston blues June 21. Simply said, La La Wilson is blues history.

Houston’s hippest, young Latin dance band, JALEA, brings the Summer Sounds series to a high-energy, close June 28. Back by popular demand – the name JALEA, Spanish for “jelly,” says it all to music fans who love to shake and shimmy on the dance floor. For more information visit www.lacenterra.com.

Ever wonder about new development or want opinions on good restaurants or entertainment venues in the area? Send your questions to [email protected] and I’ll do my best to find out the answers! A SUMMER STAPLE IN TEXAS, BBQ HAS BECOME A

PRETTY COVETED COMMODITY.

Q: Are there any good BBQ restaurants in our area?A: Ok, I have to admit my bias will sway my opinion a little. I’m

a huge Rudy’s Bar-B-Que fan (the sauce is the key) and my husband and I cannot wait for the new Katy location to open at I-10 and Mason Road next to the Dodge dealership.

We’ve been watching the progress (or non-progress) for months now and are glad to see that our wait will soon be over. There are other good BBQ restaurants as well.

Spring Creek BBQ, another popular chain, offers a good variety of tasty BBQ, sides and dessert plus a friendly wait staff.

Big Daddy’s BBQ, my second favorite and a weekend staple in my house, has slow cooked meat and sides for a reasonable price.

The fairly new Red River BBQ on Mason Road seems to have a good following so far; I have personally only eaten there once and don’t remember being all that impressed but my suggestion would be to try it out for yourself.

Happy eating! Make sure you have an extra roll of paper towels; you’ll need it eating BBQ!!
