As many as six big Unlimited class hydroplanes will be

attending the 2014 Mahogany & Merlot event with names

like: Atlas Van Lines, Miss Thriftway, Miss Wahoo & Miss

Burien. These same raceboats, now restored and preserved

raced on Lake Chelan in the late 1950’s. Also showcased

will be up to 20 beautifully restored smaller inboards

(limited class) Hydroplanes and Racing Runabouts. While

the Unlimited Hydroplanes run the WWII Aircraft Power

Plants, these vintage ‘limited’ class boats utilize a variety of

automotive based engines.

Rounding out the 2014 Mahogany & Merlot Vintage Boat

Show on our Mahogany Row, presented by Berkshire

Hathaway Home Services, are the meticulously restored

Antique & Classic Mahogany Chris-Craft’s, Century’s,

Gar Wood’s and other makes from a bygone era. These

gorgeous and pristine boats will line the docks along

‘Mahogany Row’ presented by Berkshire Hathaway Home

Services at Don Morse Park & Marina in Lake Chelan.

It’s the irst of two weekends for the Lake Chelan Crush. Events are happening at many of the wineries, see the article on page 10.LAKE CHELAN WINERY is celebrating the harvest with their annual Grape Stomp! This 3-day vintage boat & car event kicks off today, see the entire schedule of events in our cover story.

Taste of Chelan

Only 100 tickets are available for this evening stroll featuring eight Chelan eateries. Tickets are $25 each, available at the Chamber of Commerce ofice. Pick up your tickets from 4 to 5pm, the restaurant walk begins at 5pm. Proceeds beneit the Five Star Club at Chelan High School. Participating restaurants include Bear Foods Creperie, Culinary Apple/Vin du Lac, Deb’s Delights, Campbell’s Pub & Veranda, The Vogue, Sojourners, Local Myth Pizza and Marcela’s.

Harvest Festival

THE BUCKNER HOMESTEAD HERITAGE FOUNDATION in Stehekin will hold its annual work party and harvest festival October 3-5. Friday’s event begins at 9am cleaning up the orchard for the winter. Saturday and Sunday are devoted to fun with an apple
