❧ Team-‐teach ESL classes for two-‐hour weekly sessions to English language learners. Lessons focus on language for everyday life following a theme of “Peace and Social Justice.”

Shimane Adjunct Professor July 2011 -‐ August 2011 Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) Monterey, California The program is a 4-‐week intensive English course where students from Shimane University in Japan attend daily classes and live with host families.
❧ Created a syllabus for two content-‐based classes -‐ “Current Events” and “Panel Discussion” – based on an initial student needs analysis.
❧ Integrated various websites and programs like typewithme, youtube, Audacity, iMovie, and Grooveshark to promote learner autonomy and to meet the students’ primary goals of focusing on speaking and listening skills.
❧ Included projects to synthesize the learners’ experience like podcasts, video-‐projects, and conversation glossary.

Bilingual Basic Computing Classes Teacher September 2011 – Present Monterey County Free Libraries -‐ Seaside Seaside, California Classes are held in the library computer room and are open to all library members.
❧ Teach bilingual basic level computing classes for Spanish-‐speaking library members. ❧ Create ongoing needs analyses in order to assess students’ current English levels
and computing abilities and interests. ❧ Facilitate lessons that involve word processing, Internet navigation, and basic
computer skills using a Windows operating system. Youth Poetry Workshop Instructor April 2011 – May 2011 Lyceum of Monterey Monterey, California This organization offers after school and weekend courses to students in a variety of subjects. These workshops and courses aim to enrich students’ lives outside of school.
❧ Created a four-‐week syllabus based on a needs analysis of students’ interest in poetry.
❧ Created an ongoing linguistic and poetic devices dictionary with students to enhance the creative experience by giving tools for analyzing selected poetry.
Bilingual Classroom Teacher’s Assistant March 2010 -‐ May 2010 Niños y Niñas Querétaro, México This not-‐for-‐profit organization serves children of all ages of parents who work as street vendors. The program provides classes, learning activities, meals, and organized playtime while their parents work during the day.
❧ Communicated in Spanish with teachers and students. ❧ Worked in classrooms as a teacher’s assistant primarily with children under the age
of four; led story-‐time and helped students with classroom activities. ❧ Taught beginning-‐level English to adolescents after they completed their
assignments. 6th Grade Language Arts and Leadership Teacher June 2007 – August 2007 Summerbridge San Diego (SBSD) San Diego, California This main objective of the program is to “get younger students into learning and older students into teaching.”
❧ Developed lesson plans for two sixth-‐grade academic classes (Language Arts & Leadership) with appropriate pre-‐ and post-‐tests to measure gains.

Tutoring Experience Graduate Writing Tutor September 2011 – Present MIIS Graduate Writing Center Monterey, California The MIIS Graduate Writing Center offers tutorial sessions to graduate students for any part of the writing process.

❧ Apply MATESOL course, “Teaching of Writing,” concepts for brainstorming, planning, writing, and revision.
❧ Form regular tutorial relationships with students to meet individual needs through voice recording sessions, student brainstorming transcription, pairing students with other graduate students in their field and giving tutorials on writing styles: American Psychological Association (APA) and Chicago.
Behavioral Therapist/Tutor July 2008 -‐ July 2009 ACES Irvine, California ACES provides academic, communication, adaptive, and social skills to children of all ages with autism and other developmental disabilities. The largest population served is children under three in early intervention programs.
❧ Worked one-‐on-‐one with children with autism and special needs in early intervention, school district, and social group programs in order to meet their individualized goals.
❧ Implemented Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Visual Strategies and Social Skills methodologies with successful gains in children’s programs and parent training.
San Ysidro High School Mentor/Tutor October 2007 – April 2008 UCSD Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) San Ysidro, California This program works with students from underrepresented populations in higher education to increase their opportunities of achieving a college education.
❧ Mentored and tutored students in two 10th grade English classes and provided one-‐on-‐one guidance and support for college and community college applications.
❧ Worked with a Spanish speaking population in an academic preparation Language Arts class with eventual goals of passing the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE).
American English in Action (AEIA) Conversation Tutor March 2005 – May 2008 UCSD International Center La Jolla, California Program provides a venue for tutors to offer assistance with English conversation and insights into U.S. culture for visiting international researchers and students, as well as their families.
❧ Met weekly with a small group (1-‐3) of UCSD international students, scholars and spouses to help with their English fluency and provided them with detailed notes after our meetings.
❧ Introduced weekly material in American culture, music, history, politics, and current events and focused our English conversations around these experiences.
❧ Assisted students with individual projects like academic paper revision and resume writing.

Fulbright Logistics Coordinator May 2011 – August 2011 Monterey Institute of International Studies Monterey, California Every summer the MIIS Intensive English Language Program hosts a group of international scholars sponsored by the Fulbright program.
❧ Worked directly with the Institute of International Education (IIE) to coordinate all program logistics including flight arrivals and departures, hotel arrangements, roommate pairing, dietary needs, and other special needs for thirty-‐seven international Fulbright grantees.
❧ Planned the details and oversaw Activity Coordinators for Orientation, Happy Hour, President’s Reception, Dinners in the Community, San Francisco day trip, Visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Point Lobos Hiking Trip, Graduation Reception, and other informal gatherings.
❧ With the help of the Academic Coordinator, conducted an end-‐of-‐program evaluation and reported the results for all aspects of the program including self-‐performance.
