Grand Vapids, listed as “a Georgia band you should listen to now” in PASTE Magazine: “Hometown: Athens Members: McKendrick Bearden ‘10, Austin Harris ‘10, Paul Stevens, Chris Goggans Current Album: Guarantees listening to Grand Vapids’ brand new debut album is like a crash course in indie-guitar-rock school. Fuzzy, droning guitar recalls everything from Pixies and Built to Spill to Beach House and Wavves with the mellow vocals of McKendrick Bearden and Austin Harris—filtered through an echo chamber of effects—giving everything a lush, layered vibe. It’s the distillation of three decades of college rock radio, appropriately coming out of a town like Athens.—Josh Jackson Paste Magazine”

The inaugural season of the LaGrange College Band has been exciting, to say the least! The band arrived on campus before the fall semester started and began practicing for the first football game. Since move in day, the band has performed at the faculty institute opening session, the “Spirits and Traditions” event, all of the home football games, the Board

of Trustees Breakfast, the Alumni Breakfast during homecoming week, the student bonfire, and just last week had a recording session that is slated for a “secret” release around Christmas time! In addition to all of this, the band also played at the basketball exhibition games and will continue playing at select home basketball games throughout the season. The concert band program also begins this spring. “My first semester at LaGrange College has been great,” says Professor Josh Roberts, Director of Bands. “The support I have received from the faculty, staff, students, and the entire LC community is amazing. I am humbled to be creating LC history with the development of the new band program.”

This year at the Georgia Theatre Conference Screening Auditions, Meagan Thompson and Lawrence West (left) were selected to move on and audition at the Southeastern Theatre Conference this March in Greensboro, North Carolina. At SETC, they will have the opportunity to attend workshops and classes, as well as audition for professional theatre companies from across the Southeast.
