TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2015 (PAGE 12) DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU ‘Ladli Beti’ to create positive environment for girl child: Ganga Excelsior Correspondent SAMBA, Oct 12: The state- sponsored social assistance scheme 'Ladli Beti' will posi- tively change the mindsets of the people for improving the child sex ratio and empower- ment of the girl child. This was stated by the Minister for Industries & Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga today after inaugurating the Social Welfare Centre for cutting and tailoring at village Gadwal in tehsil Vijaypur. The Minister said that the scheme has been launched to create a positive disposition towards the girl child. "It aims to reverse the declining child sex ratio and emphasizes on lay- ing a firm foundation for girls' future through improvement in their educational and economic status and to bring about a posi- tive change in social attitude towards birth of a girl" he said and urged upon the people to enroll their daughters under the 'Ladli Beti' scheme so that the future of the girls would be secured. He said Central as well as State Government has launched several welfare schemes for the upliftment of downtrodden peo- ple and the Department of Social Welfare has been given instructions to cover all the deserving beneficiaries under these benefits to change their socio-economic profile. He said the Department will provide these facilities to the poor peo- ple at their doorsteps by organ- izing special camps in the rural and far-flung areas. It is pertinent to mention here that the Ladli Beti scheme would be implemented in six districts of the state with skewed sex ratios including Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Budgam, Pulwama and Anantnag. The District Social Welfare Officer Samba, Mushtaq Choudhary also highlighted var- ious schemes launched by the department and stressed upon the people to avail their benefits. The Minister after giving patient hearing to the issues raised by the villagers assured them for the early redressal of their problems . Earlier, the Minister launched the development works of lane and drain amount- ing to Rs. 11 lakh in the village. He also urged the unemployed youth of the village to get enrolled in MGNREGA. ReT teachers protest highlighting their demands, grievances Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 12: To high- light their demands and griev- ances, Rehbar-e-Taleem teach- ers held a strong protest demon- stration in front of the Directorate of School Education complex, here today. A large number of ReTs from all the districts participated in a day long protest demonstra- tion, which was held under the banners of All J&K ReT Teacher Forum and led by State presi- dent Vinod Sharma. While addressing the gather- ing, Vinod Sharma lambasted the State Government and the Education Department for their biased approach towards ReT fraternity. He said that regular- ization of ReTs, who have com- pleted 5 years service one and half years back, is still pending and they are harassed on the name of verification where as the court has ordered only to verify the Degrees issued by Tuk shops/Fake Universities. Adding that verification and regularization can be done simultaneously, he further alleged that the department has even failed to streamline the salary of SSA Teachers, which is pending for the last 4 to 6 months. Similarly, KGBV Teachers are also still waiting for their regularization despite the assurances of the Government in this regard, he added. Vinod Sharma also demand- ed immediate revocation of order which debarred the regu- larized ReTs from Board Exams duties. He said that ReTs have been performing highly sensi- tive duties like Election Duty, Census Duty, BLO Duty but they are exempted from exams duties which is clear injustice and which can not tolerated any more. He also asked the Government to implement the High Court order to transfer the regularized ReTs. State general secretary of the ReT Forum, Najam Jafri, warned that in case their all grievances are not addressed on priority basis, they would hold State wide protest on the open- ing of annual Darbar at Jammu for which the Government would be responsible. Tech Mahindra, LPU to launch industry specific joint programs Excelsior Correspondent JALANDHAR, Oct 12: Striving to bridge gap between Industry and Academia, Tech Mahindra (Tech M) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) have collaborated for offering industry specific programs. These programs are to be specially designed for LPU B Tech/ M Tech students as co- branded programs. So, LPU stu- dents are now to get industry requisite training right from Day-1 of joining these programs. For this, Tech Mahindra has stepped with illustrated 'Campus Connect' initiative. As per MoU, both the partners will also work to enhance employability and selection of students. Creating a center of excel- lence, Tech Mahindra & LPU will jointly enrich knowledge of LPU students, faculty and Tech Mahindra employees. Promoting upcoming technologies, both collaborators will also conceptu- alize research projects on need basis. The principal technical and research areas are around contemporary computing tech- nology areas. For this, primary activities will include capability, curriculum and required skills development. Training for for- eign language courses, including Spanish, Mandarin, French, German, will also be provided along with University Curriculum. Tech Mahindra Centre Council Head, Tarunpreet Singh further, informed about the training schedule: "We would like to focus on fresher training program in two steps. In the first year after the campus selection, the selected students can complete a special elective 'Foundation'. After this, another course termed as 'advanced' will be taught in 8th semester." Mr Singh also elaborated that 'Elective' can also be taught in third year to all those students who would like to sit in IT indus- try campus placement. Convention on ‘Save Reservation’ held Excelsior Correspondent DODA, Oct 12: A one day convention on ‘Save Reservation’ was held at Chenab Valley Head Quarters Doda by All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations Unit Doda. The convention was presided over by District president of the confederation, Amar Nath Bhagat in which a large number of people from SC, ST, OBC and RBA categories belonging to Doda, Bhaderwah, Thathri, Bhalessa, Kishtwar, Kastigarh, Assar, Batote and Ramban par- ticipated. Crime Patrol group installs 6 CCTVs in Samba Excelsior Correspondent SAMBA Oct 12: In order to bring the Police-public relations to new heights as well as to keep check on crime in Samba town, a joint social youth group called Crime Patrol Samba having its 94 members from District Police Samba and media persons/vol- unteers, got installed six CCTV cameras at all the strategic loca- tions of Samba town. The CC TVs were installed at Samba Chowk, Bus Stand Sumb, Hari Singh Chowk, Chohata Chowk, district Courts Complex Samba and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Samba, hav- ing their Control Station at Police Control Room function- ing from the building of Police Station Samba. All these CCTV Cameras were inaugurated today by Joginder Singh, SSP Samba in the presence of Pawan Sharma ADC Samba, Varinder Singh DySP HQ Samba, Neeraj Kumar DySP Operations Samba, Kulbhushan Sharma CPO Samba, Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO P/S Samba. The function was inaugurated by BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul who was the chief guest on the occasion and MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta. Rajesh Gupta on the occa- sion announced Rs 20 lakh from his C.D.F as the first installment towards the up gradation and beautification of the project. Other leaders present were Sandeep Bhagat, Sanjeev Kohli etc. Constable booked for cheating SPO Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 12: Crime Branch Jammu today registered FIR against constable Manzoor Ahmed, who duped innocent Special Police Officer for con- verting him to follower/constable by his influence in lieu of money. According to the SSP Crime Branch Mubassir Latifi, a com- plaint was forwarded by the IG Railway mentioning that a departmental enquiry was con- ducted by SP Railways, Kashmir and it was found that constable Manzoor Ahmed No. 747/GRPK, who was residing in a rented room at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu introduced him- self to one Jewan Lal, son of Om Parkash of Dachan as driver to IGP, Jammu Zone and asked him to pay an amount of Rs 55,000 for the treatment of his mother and later on when Jewan Lal demanded his money back, Manzoor Ahmed asked Jewan Lal to pay him some more money in lieu of which he will be con- verted from SPO to follower/constable by his influ- ence. Manzoor Ahmed also provid- ed an account number 3154 of J&K Bank branch Rajpora Pulwama existing in the name of one Reyaz Ahmed Wagay of Pulwama in which Jewan Lal deposited Rs 25,000 for getting himself regularized as Constable in J&K Police on being allured by Manzoor Ahmed. However, no such order was passed. During investigation by the Crime Branch, it transpired that accused Manzoor Ahmed in con- nivance with Reyaz Ahmed Wagay and others allured and took an amount of Rs 80,000 from SPO Jewan Lal through deceitful means by impersonat- ing himself as driver of IGP Jammu Zone. Sambyal, SDPO Vijaypur assisted by SI Rajeshwar Singh, SHO P/S Vijaypur recovered one Barinder Kumar, 12 S/O Gurcharan Mahoto R/o Kerwah Sukhnandha district Garwah Jharkhand who was wandering near Railway Station Vijaypur. Before he could get caught up in the wrong hands, he was brought in Police Station Vijaypur where during thorough questioning, he disclosed that his father had beat- en him and he ran from his home, boarded the train and reached Vijaypur. Today, the parents of the boy were called from Jharkhand and he was handed over to them. Man injured in scuffle near Press Club Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 12: A man was injured in a scuffle that broke out late last night near the prem- ises of Press Club Jammu after a person allegedly misbehaved with a foreigner lady. According to a police spokesperson two parties had come to the Press Club for din- ner late last night and later one man identified as Rakesh Nischal of Link Road, Jammu, who is member of the Club, allegedly misbehaved with the wife of a local resident who is a foreigner. He said that this resulted in a scuffle between the two parties, which continued in the parking area of the club, following which the accused tried to run from the spot while the other party tried to stop him and in this process the brother-in-law of the foreigner lady, who has been identified as Suresh Kumar (45) son of Mohan Singh of Kacchi Chawani, Jammu, received head injury after being hit by the vehicle of the accused. The spokesman said that the injured man was shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treat- ment from where later he was taken to a hospital in Ludhiana for advanced treatment. He said a case in this con- nection has been registered at police station Nowabad and investigations started. However, no arrests could be made so far. Successful removal of 1.47 kg tumour in Police Hospital Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Oct 12: A team of doctors of Police Hospital Srinagar, comprising of Dr Irshad Ahmed Kuchey, Dr Nahid (Gynaecologist), Dr Baljeet (Anaesthesia) and other team members successfully removed 1.47 kg benign tumour from the uterus of female patient Laproscopically, today. This was the first surgery of its kind per- formed by the doctors in the hospital. Giving the details about the successful surgery, Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital, Dr Foziya Habib, said, “The sur- gery was performed on patient from Kupwara suffering from tumour of uterus. She said that earlier the doctors of the Hospital had performed several successful advanced laparoscop- ic surgeries on patients suffering from various diseases. It was a milestone achievement in the history of Police Hospital con- sidering the size of tumour”. Dr Foziya said that various other successful surgeries including Hepaticojejunostomy, open Prostatectomy, Hepatic Hydatid Cystectomy, total gas- trectomy and advanced laparo- scopic surgeries are being done in the Hospital and now the doc- tors are focusing to achieve suc- cesses in other fields. He lauded the dedication and expertise of Dr Irshad and Dr Nahid and the team of para-medics, whose efforts have brought laurels for the Hospital. The Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar, expressed hope that the able doctors of Police Hospitals would continue their efforts to make successes in the field of medical science. Six more test positive for Dengue Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 12: Six more cases of Dengue were reported today taking the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne dis- ease in Jammu region to 72. "Six persons including three adults and three children were today tested positive for Dengue virus, out of which four belonged to Jammu district while one each from Kathua and Rajouri dis- tricts", Director Health Services (Jammu), Dr BS Pathania said. “He said out of the three affected adults, two are males and one female. Similarly, out of the three Dengue affected children, two are male and one female”, he added. However, he said that majority of the patients affected with the disease who were admit- ted to various hospitals have been discharged after successful treat- ment. Dr Pathania advised the people not to store water in open utensils and allow stagnation of water in their surroundings, as stagnant water is a breeding ground for Dengue mosquitoes. He also advised the people to prevent themselves from mosquito bites. Various competitions on RTI Act were organized during the week long celebrations in which employees & officers participated in large numbers. On the closing ceremony of RTI week, Om Prakash, Executive Director, NHPC Limited Jammu, while addressing the employees said that Right to Information has been recognized as a fundamen- tal right, under which everyone has been given the right to know how government works, its role, its functions etc. He advised the employees to use RTI very judiciously and in its right perspective. JAMMU, Oct 12: To high-light their demands and griev-ances, Rehbar-e-Taleem teach-ers held a strong protest demon-

stration in front of theDirectorate of School Educationcomplex, here today.

A large number of ReTsfrom all the districts participatedin a day long protest demonstra-tion, which was held under thebanners of All J&K ReT Teacher

Forum and led by State presi-dent Vinod Sharma.

While addressing the gather-ing, Vinod Sharma lambastedthe State Government and theEducation Department for their

biased approach towards ReTfraternity. He said that regular-ization of ReTs, who have com-pleted 5 years service one andhalf years back, is still pendingand they are harassed on thename of verification where asthe court has ordered only toverify the Degrees issued by

Tuk shops/Fake Universities. Adding that verification and

regularization can be donesimultaneously, he furtheralleged that the department haseven failed to streamline thesalary of SSA Teachers, which ispending for the last 4 to 6months. Similarly, KGBVTeachers are also still waitingfor their regularization despitethe assurances of theGovernment in this regard, headded.

Vinod Sharma also demand-ed immediate revocation oforder which debarred the regu-larized ReTs from Board Examsduties. He said that ReTs havebeen performing highly sensi-tive duties like Election Duty,Census Duty, BLO Duty butthey are exempted from examsduties which is clear injusticeand which can not tolerated anymore. He also asked theGovernment to implement theHigh Court order to transfer theregularized ReTs.

State general secretary ofthe ReT Forum, Najam Jafri,warned that in case their allgrievances are not addressed onpriority basis, they would holdState wide protest on the open-ing of annual Darbar at Jammufor which the Governmentwould be responsible.

Tech Mahindra, LPU to launchindustry specific joint programs

These programs are to bespecially designed for LPU BTech/ M Tech students as co-branded programs. As per MoU,both the partners will also workto enhance employability andselection of students.

Promotingupcoming technologies, bothcollaborators will also conceptu-alize research projects on needbasis. Mr Singh also elaborated that'Elective' can also be taught inthird year to all those studentswho would like to sit in IT indus-try campus placement. Itsadvanced form can spread acrossfull 4th year of the program.

JAMMU, Oct 12: CrimeBranch Jammu today registeredFIR against constable ManzoorAhmed, who duped innocentSpecial Police Officer for con-verting him to follower/constableby his influence in lieu of money.

According to the SSP CrimeBranch Mubassir Latifi, a com-plaint was forwarded by the IGRailway mentioning that adepartmental enquiry was con-ducted by SP Railways,Kashmir and it was found thatconstable Manzoor Ahmed No.747/GRPK, who was residing ina rented room at BhagwatiNagar, Jammu introduced him-self to one Jewan Lal, son of OmParkash of Dachan as driver toIGP, Jammu Zone and asked himto pay an amount of Rs 55,000for the treatment of his motherand later on when Jewan Laldemanded his money back,Manzoor Ahmed asked JewanLal to pay him some more moneyin lieu of which he will be con-verted from SPO tofollower/constable by his influ-ence.

Manzoor Ahmed also provid-ed an account number 3154 ofJ&K Bank branch RajporaPulwama existing in the name ofone Reyaz Ahmed Wagay ofPulwama in which Jewan Laldeposited Rs 25,000 for gettinghimself regularized as Constablein J&K Police on being alluredby Manzoor Ahmed. However,no such order was passed.

During investigation by theCrime Branch, it transpired thataccused Manzoor Ahmed in con-nivance with Reyaz AhmedWagay and others allured andtook an amount of Rs 80,000from SPO Jewan Lal throughdeceitful means by impersonat-ing himself as driver of IGPJammu Zone.

Accordingly, a case underSections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471,120-B RPC read with Section5(2) PC Act has been registeredagainst him and investigationentrusted to DySP Abdul WahidGiri.

Man injured in scufflenear Press Club

JAMMU, Oct 12: A man wasinjured in a scuffle that brokeout late last night near the prem-ises of Press Club Jammu after aperson allegedly misbehavedwith a foreigner lady.

According to a policespokesperson two parties hadcome to the Press Club for din-ner late last night and later oneman identified as RakeshNischal of Link Road, Jammu,who is member of the Club,allegedly misbehaved with thewife of a local resident who is aforeigner.

He said that this resulted in ascuffle between the two parties,which continued in the parkingarea of the club, following

which the accused tried to runfrom the spot while the otherparty tried to stop him and inthis process the brother-in-lawof the foreigner lady, who hasbeen identified as Suresh Kumar(45) son of Mohan Singh ofKacchi Chawani, Jammu,received head injury after beinghit by the vehicle of the accused.

The spokesman said that theinjured man was shifted to theGovernment Medical Collegeand Hospital, Jammu for treat-ment from where later he wastaken to a hospital in Ludhianafor advanced treatment.

He said a case in this con-nection has been registered atpolice station Nowabad andinvestigations started. However,no arrests could be made so far.

Successful removal of 1.47 kgtumour in Police Hospital

This wasthe first surgery of its kind per-formed by the doctors in thehospital.

Giving the details about thesuccessful surgery, MedicalSuperintendent, Police Hospital,Dr Foziya Habib, said, “The sur-gery was performed on patientfrom Kupwara suffering fromtumour of uterus. She said thatearlier the doctors of theHospital had performed severalsuccessful advanced laparoscop-ic surgeries on patients sufferingfrom various diseases. It was amilestone achievement in the

history of Police Hospital con-sidering the size of tumour”.

Dr Foziya said that variousother successful surgeriesincluding Hepaticojejunostomy,open Prostatectomy, HepaticHydatid Cystectomy, total gas-trectomy and advanced laparo-scopic surgeries are being donein the Hospital and now the doc-tors are focusing to achieve suc-cesses in other fields. Six more test positive for DengueExcelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Oct 12: Six morecases of Dengue were reported todaytaking the total number of patientssuffering from the vector-borne dis-ease in Jammu region to 72.

"Six persons including threeadults and three children weretoday tested positive for Denguevirus, out of which four belongedto Jammu district while one eachfrom Kathua and Rajouri dis-tricts", Director Health Services(Jammu), Dr BS Pathania said.

“He said out of the threeaffected adults, two are males and

one female. Similarly, out of thethree Dengue affected children,two are male and one female”, headded. However, he said thatmajority of the patients affectedwith the disease who were admit-ted to various hospitals have beendischarged after successful treat-ment.

Dr Pathania advised the peoplenot to store water in open utensilsand allow stagnation of water intheir surroundings, as stagnantwater is a breeding ground forDengue mosquitoes. He alsoadvised the people to preventthemselves from mosquito bites.
